Changing meds

Changing meds

Hi. I battled MDD & acute anxiety nearly all of my adult life. I've been on numerous different SSRIs, SRNIs, antipsychotics, tried rTMS & ECT. Am addicted to a benzo for my anxiety.

I am in the process of swapping out from a SRNI to a MAOI and the wash out period is hell. I really don't think I'm going to make it. This is the darkest place I have ever been.
I have no family support, honestly no friends, not able to work & are completely isolated.

i don't feel my medical team actually care much anymore, they are overwhelmed by new clients because of covid.

i hardly sleep, but the last thing in my mind before I do, is how much I want to die. It's the first thought of the day when I wake up.

what if this new medication doesn't work either??

Re: Changing meds

I'm so glad you are feeling slightly better today @Former-Member - that's so good to hear!

That's a really good suggestion to write to my nephew. I did send up pressies for Christmas, but in the excitement of all the other gifts he received, I don't think my gift was very exciting. As my sister and I aren't taking (she's barred me as my MI adds to her anxiety. So, she'd rather not be in contact) I don't know what he's into, what he likes etc. But going back to good ol pen pals, might just be a good idea. His little sister dropped both the tablet and phone, so we don't video call anymore. You'd think my sister could buy a stand and cover - but no, she'd rather have control and say no video calls.

Re: Changing meds

I've been looking after a very unwell person here for the past couple of days. Hoping she'll pick up today.

Re: Changing meds

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. @WIP Ugh!

sounds so familiar. I'd rather no contact.
It just isn't helpful.
I hope letter writing will help. Bummer you can't video call anymore. 🌺🌸

Beautiful @Anastasia

You mean so very much to me, thank you for dropping by in my time of crisis. I'll be honest, I'm not doing too good.
Mum is coming over - but she's 74 &'it'll take her hours to get organised. But I'm grateful she's coming, as she's all I have irl - that's why I put a shout out here for some help from my forum family, you've all I have. And you mean a lot to me. Thank you ❣️❤️🤗🦋🌸

Re: Changing meds

I think my sister would rather no contact & she's working her way up to that @Former-Member

My nephew is 9 & by the time he's a teenager, he won't be interested in talking to his Aunty. So, that'll give my sister the final out she's been looking for to cut all communication.

itll be interesting if/when my Mum gets ill.
I'm sure I'll be the omen looking after her, that's if I'm capable,'otherwise it'll just give my sister another excuse to hate me. I think about that often

Re: Changing meds

It's awful that she's like that @WIP

I don't understand why some sisters are so awful. ☹️🤗💖

I really hope you start feeling better soon. And feel well enough to make new friends. That's my goal. For me, family don't exist. Sorry it's so lonely for you now. It won't be forever.

Re: Changing meds

Your mum is an angel @WIP that makes me happy to hear she's coming. I'm so sorry your sister just doesn't "get it". It's such a shame that to understand and perhaps provide empathy and compassion we have to have lived experience. It shouldn't be that way but sadly mostly it is. Whilst you wait for your Mum we are here with you and little Levi ❣️🐕

Hope your person improves today @Former-Member , sorry to hear they are unwell 🤗🙏💞

My boy needs me for a bit so I will hold you close L knowing that you are surrounded by special friends and in good company. I am sorry I have to run 😭 I love you.

Re: Changing meds

She would say she's like that because I've been so nasty to her over the years. I have been nasty at times, but most times due to my illness. I would walk over broken glass for my family, and she knows that. But she can easily discard ppl,

including family. She hurts me deeply @Former-Member

really hurts.

Thats my goal too - to make new friends. I'm not sure where to start though. I have no kids, so there's no parent groups to join in with, I don't work, so no workmates to meet. No family, to meet their friends. It's all quite limited. Reaching out on these forums has helped heaps, but I need F2F interaction. I'm thinking of volunteering somewhere.
