That's right except my little daughter did not go through all those phonetics - she just heard me say "penguins" and thought I said "pink ones"

I have had so much milage over that one saying it - it is the first time I have had to write it - and I just wrote it the way I said it.

It is so cool to go to Phillip Island to see the Fairy Penguins - actually I missed the parade because after we had paid to get in my son developed stomach cramps and had the choice to stay where he was and see the penguins or go back to the car with me and miss the penguins - and he chose the latter and both of us missed the parade while my daughter stayed with her Dad to see the penguins

Fast forward to being in our tent which we pitched anywhere - and I could here the penguins calling to each other and one wanted to get in one side of our tent and I let it in - and it walked straight across the clutter of bodies and out the other side - so I guess we never saw a pink one but we had one up close for those of us who had missed the parade

Don't get me started on what my son used to say - that could start and epic of literal mistakes

But I am glad you have enjoyed untangling this one

I am still laughing at the Pink Penguins -

It was a big ask to catch a fairy penguins and paint it pink - I would have got into trouble about it I think

Please don't worry about going off topic @Decadian and all. I really loved where it was headed. I know I'll still come back here and vent and cry for help when I need to but most happy for it to go anywhere in between. I loved the cryptic pink ones. I have a great joke that involves both penguins and cars that overheat, may not be appropriate tho

..well see if it gets up ..

There were two penguins driving in their car on a hot day. The car was overheating, so they dropped it off at the garage. They went off to get an icecream to cool down, then went back to the garage to see how the car was going. one of them was a messy eater and had icecream on his face still on his face when they got back there

They asked what the problem with the overheating car was .. the mechanic replied 'it looks like you blew a seal'

the penguin replied 'no, I did not..'

I am a new member, only joined two days ago. But I read this thread from the beginning, and it really made me appreciate the value of SANE Forums. In the hours Teej stayed in her car, feeling distressed and feeling unable to go home, there were people posting to her to try to help. I liked the previous joke too!
