I am struggling at the moment

I am struggling at the moment

I don't know why I am really writing this. There seems to be part of me which says that I need to pull my head in and do this alone and another part who so desperately wants to reach out for help. I am really struggling. I'm not coping at all. For much of the day I've thought about all the reasons to die and there are hundreds. There is also one reason to live that keeps me here. I can't let down my oldest son and cut out his trip of a lifetime. He would have to come home and pick up all the pieces for everyone. I keep telling myself I have to hold on until he comes back and then I can let go but this keeps me waiting to die not choosing to live. I have a cold sore that now goes from the corner of my eye the length of my nose and it's slowly creeping across my face from stress. It started on Wednesday and each morning I wake to find more of my face engulfed by it. I am so tired. I am so sorry to write this and I know I'm so lucky to have friends on here that care. I don't want anyone to have to deal with this as it is so depressing so I started this thread as a way of saying that I'm not well when writing here and please don't feel obliged to read or respond.

@Former-Member

That's one of the problems I am facing. I don't want to move schools because I believe starting all over somewhere else will be even more pressure - having to get to know the kids, my colleagues, new structures, timetables etc. The balance between that and the triggers from where I currently am have to be weighed up. My GP thinks one way, my psychologist thinks the other- meanwhile I'm still on the fence not knowing which way to fall!

Physically I am still struggling- but am starting to be able to do more. Have realised after yesterday that I am nowhere near ready for work - I can barely move today.

Have made some progress emotionally with psychologist but most days I come out feeling worse. Wish I had never starting opening any of those boxes and continued along my "denial and coping as best I could" journey instead - it just gets too hard!

If I stop sessions now I will be worse than before and if I keep going I don't think I'll be able to work at all for a long time.

Feel your struggle re: making ends meet - if I can't go back to work will be really difficult - have got income protection but is only a percentage of wage - probably just enough to pay mortgage and live off without any extras but will be a very tight squeeze. Definitely another thing to add to the worry bank!

yes, i have income protection but was never sure how it worked... things are always a worry.
yes i know what you mean about starting and stopping both being really hard in regards to the therapy. i might be trying emdr this year and im nervous about it but its supposed to help a lot faster than other methods. will see.
I hope you wake up feeling a bit better tomorrow, physically at least.

Re: I am struggling at the moment

@Former-Member my income protection only pays up to 75% of what my loss of income would be. Therefore is I can't work at all it would be 75% of total wage. If I can work a few days it will be a portion of the remaining days that I'll get. I think it actually worked out better NOT to work at all - not by much but it all counts. There is also a 90 day waiting period - which I have well and truly reached.

I have been doing emdr with psych for the last coupleof months. I certainly don't know how it will go for you but for me it has been very overwhelming, draining and I haven't been able to see any progress. My psychologist on the other hand has said she has seen alot of progress - re the length of time I stay with it and not 'freak out' (my words not hers). She has also said that because of everything we need to deal with it is going to take more time than it perhaps would with others she has worked with and also she doesn't think because of my history that we will be able toget as deepin as she would like us to. I suppose we will just wait and see.

I'm going to head to bed soon so if I don't get back to you tonight the chat soon.

Take care - thinking of you

Can't lie - it's not a walk in the part nut am going to persist for a bit longer because even though it is really tough I have good support from psych, GP and this forum and I can ses where it could lead in the future - stopping now would definitely put me back a few steps (and with even more sh#t to deal with).

Only you will know if it could work for you if and when you try it

You take care also

Re: I am struggling at the moment

@Zoe7 I'm still up too. Hope it works for you this time. I was feeling tired but I got up to brush my teeth and now I am almost wide awake. At least tomorrow I can sleep in and not worry about getting up to go anywhere.
