Feeling Gutted and agitated

Feeling Gutted and agitated

Feeling very agitated about 2 relationships in my life. I always start out optimistic but things backfire and somehow I feel very unworthy of any relationship.

Thank you @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member@Former-Member @Decadian

I hope I am not too incoherent @Former-Member. Some of the not understanding may be that we are different genders. I am finally realising that a lot of my gender positions have simply been about getting on with life and do the next thing. Because mostly I did not have a dad I had to the things that people with dads take for granted. I thought I might have been weird or gay ... but I am feeling pretty balanced about gender roles now ... I can do the clothes thing and the domestic stuff ... which were pretty foreign to me in teens and 20s. Yet to do the hairdresser thing.

Often I jump around with ideas ... or dont post in proper sentences ... I might sound a bit abrupt as my mind is usually overflowing with ideas. I spent a long time writing academically and I enjoyed the freedom of stream of consciousness ... without proper grammatical constructs. It felt like there was a weight off my shoulders and I could just go Blah

But there may be an issue with inteligibility. I will look into that with narrative therapist. Mostly I had formal polite speech (mum's English simple and proper) but was surrounded by a lot of disadvantaged kids .. so part of my integration has been flipping in and out of formal and casual language styles ... might make it hard to follow ... all things to work on.

When I first started posting @PeppiPatty had difficulty following me. I persisted. She persisted. I appreciate her encouragement and truthfulness.

Thanks for support everyone.

I now have til Thursday as respite ..

I really did not have any other option to discharge all the pressure that were put upon me.

I have always supported my kids relationships with biological family as mine was so disturbed. Eg Self & sibs Wards of state and living with extended family.

That is why I do my half bloke joke. I honestly have a strong identification with male issues but also was influenced and felt supported by feminist readings at uni ... but could never go the whole hog with any ideology. If you want to be Jungian, I do feel I have adequately integrated my anima animus at this stage. Though its not over rover til we are done.

Re: Feeling Gutted and agitated

Stumbled across the modality of Narrative Therapy in my Counselling Course at VU. @PeppiPatty

It is founded by a South Australian ... cant remember his name off hand ... look it up ..

Yay ... I can barrack for an Aussie therapist ... more interesting than a footie team IMHO. lol

Narrative therapy speaks to me cos I did literature at uni and always loved writing ...

I think ABS & SBS are internalising (note psychological terms of organisational policies) some aspects of the therapy in helping ethnic minorities get their stories out and that is a good thing. However White Caucasions also may be marginalised for various reasons and working in a narrative manner helps.

Honestly I havent done that much research in it particularly, but liked that new therapist is qualified in it and der Kolk and Schema etc etc \\ We both have done tertiary lit.... is it is a good starting point.

I may have intimidated her in 1st session as I checked out her Book case and did a quick rattle through the concepts and summation ... yet she is older than me and good enough to distinguish between the therapist and client role quickly ... so we quickly established mutual respect. I dont want to teach therapy in that context. I want support. Hope it continues to go well.

In my piano teaching practise I started out as a suzuki teacher but quickly realised one methodology is not enough ... so developed a fusion of teaching approaches.

I think the same goes for psychotherapy.

Take care Peppi .. I am feeling far from 'cool' atm my dear ... but I understand what you mean.

Yeah, Agree @Former-Member

Good to see you, how are you?

I actually really enjoy @Appleblossom s writing but I need to read it over and over again .....She keeps on my back to keep on not thinking that my life is a waste.....I'm writing with my PSychotherapist,,,,,

No, Iv'e never read Harry Potter being an Anne Tyler and Dianna Wynne Jones lover. Dianna Wynne Jones ROCKS. If your interested, check out the books

Cart And Cwidder (Dalemark Quartet) by Diana Wynne Jones

My Father GAve me his very intellectual carboard box of Diana Wynne Jones books about 10 years ago which was the highlight of my 30s. Then, he rang me and said that he decided that he missed them too much and I gave them back with all my collection.

wwwwwaaahhhhhh. :0(

Yes, well, I have a blooming husband who talks constantly when I'm in the room with him....my decision .....so can I only respond negatively and very quickly.....intellectual writing equals: insight in writing no insight in actions and actual caring and compassion and lots of ego.

Dont be that @Appleblossom. Jumping is always fun, I have an awesome vibration machine if you need to borrow.........

Re: Feeling Gutted and agitated

Hi @Appleblossom

I am interested in this Royal Commission too - and it's really good that the ABC and SBS are televising these topics - and bringing the lesser known cultures within our society more time - which makes it easier to find out what's happening

More abuse has taken place than we can ever know - and it must be sheer hell for people who are thus taken advantage of - and so hard to write about too

Oh boy - there are things I wish I never knew - but seeing as I do - I have to think about what to do next
