Feeling Gutted and agitated

Feeling Gutted and agitated

Feeling very agitated about 2 relationships in my life. I always start out optimistic but things backfire and somehow I feel very unworthy of any relationship.

Re: Feeling Gutted and agitated

Gee, sounds horrible to me. I think home is your sanctuary. This girlfriend does sound kind of nasty in her projections. You should feel comfortable, safe in your space. Hmm when people strike me on a strong note, there is usually something to it. You sound wise to allow your son to make his own choices. He respects you for just this very quality. I think possibly the girlfriend is jealous of the relationship you do have with your son. She's young & without the years of lived experience you have. It doesn't make you a martyr, it just means you've covered more in your time!
Some people are good at bringing others down for their own feelings of inadequacy. I don't know @Apple blossom. It kind of made me a bit cross to read this. There is a lack of respect in the equation to me. Wow, playing the piano is so beautiful. You are talented, & what a nice way to calm. I hope u feel better just being in the space playing music creates.❤

Hi @Appleblossom, tell this young lady the subject of your ex is not up for discussion if she and your Son wish to visit then let them go right ahead, your a loving mother be strong for yourself

Re: Feeling Gutted and agitated

You ok @Appleblossom? My son flatly refuses to enter discussions about his dad, says he refuses to be a 'go-between' (not that i expect him to be). Wish this girl would stop pushing your buttons, little stira. How can we guard your heart from her arrows? You also sound more fragile than usual. Barbiturates do that to me, as they wear off, not worth it if you can find an alternative. Anyway, thinking of you 👣

Hi @Appleblossom

I'm with @Former-Member and @Corkgirl1997 here

This little miss needs a word or three

I never ask my dd about my ex unless it is in regard to his health - eg - he has had two heart attacks

And I don't expect here to volunteer anything

It's amazing how some people feel they have the right to interfer - I suppose they willl anyway but there are things that are family and therefore private and only family can comment - or not

I hope you are better today - we don't need people adding to our load

She also has very endearing traits ... its a hard one @Former-Member I can understand why that could be a concern. If our generation is supporting the younguns as it is tougher these days .. then these things come up.

But thank you all you lovely forum people. I know its logical that I dont put up with it ... but its really nice to hear a few people stick up for me. I will deescalate in house for this week ... but just remind her that we do need to deal with thins at some time because we all will feel better if we trust each other and get along.

Playing together nicely ... shouldnt be too hard ... should it.

Yes my son has been jumping to her defence .. yes we want to accomodate her and value some of her ideals etc ... but enough is enough.

I am going to have a river walk tomorrow and make potato leek and bacon soup and I have 2 appointments on Tuesday ... so that should take my mind off it til I see her Thursday.

I finished saying "transparency and hope win out" and namaste nod and caught my train home.

Hi @Appleblossom

The Princess and the Pea - how precious - I love this - couldn't kiss boyfriend goodbye because he ate salami and had dairy breath - oh the poor child - my satirical little heart bleeds for her

We are behind you here - I am glad you called her and her father out on this - and a confrontation does have to happen at times

You son has to make his own choices - the thought of having such a Princess in the Family is painful -

Yes - you need not put up with that - but for now - this seems to be on the menu -

The things we do for our children - I know things are harder than they were for us - but hey - we did survive - we are still here and we are older and know more

But of course - there is a stage we mothers pass through often - just being someone's mother renders us as ignorant - but we know the truth - we are not

Feeling for you

Re: Feeling Gutted and agitated

Thanks @Decadian It really does help to get feedback.

I have been so alone making parenting decisions ... it does help to share ... thanks everyone.

I had my walk by the river. It was refreshing and freezing, but I had scarf, gloves and woollen hat. An old fella waved and called out about the cold, and I smiled at a young Sikh in a hoodie ... who smiled back and a bird was flustered at my approach. So I know I am not invisible anymore. Picked up beer bottle and bag of rubbish ... tut tut

anyway i'll take it slowly.

I took him out for surf'n'turf a couple of weeks ago ... trying to strike the precious balance.

I am ok ... not feeling bad after no diaz ... back and neck a bit crook but its always worse in winter.

I'll be away at a writing camp so I wont see it but there will plenty more readings ....

Hi @Appleblossom

A bit of feedback always helps - I can see the picture actually - and your son is retaliating saying you have delusions now - well - that's right - if he can't claim you are ignorant he can claim you are delusional - just what I meant by our being their mother renders us defective in some way

Mine is in her 40s - and still I have a missing wheel - sure - I talk too much for her - but that is just for her - I wish people in my family would talk more -

Oh well

It sounds as if the evening was not a disaster - it seems the acknowledgement from the world in general helped

I'm glad you haven't had a kick-back from the diaze - I know that can happen - it's a pity you had to take them for the Little Miss - but if you get anxious - you get anxious - I take those for spasms in my spine - they work for me there but not really for anxiety - and I don't take them everyday - but if you need them then I guess they work for anxiety - then that's what they are for

Strange that you mention King Lear - I was a prompter in a production at university - and my nerves were coming undone for some reason - and we did the storm scene at rehersal and I drove home late. There was a storm and my little car bucked around and I felt like the weather had escaped from the play and attacking me - I was pretty bad that night.

I survived obviously - but I forget now what it was all about - I had so many crises back then I can't remember which one it was

And yes - your son will accept food from a blue-eyed blonde he would not accept from his boring old Mum - see what motherhood does to us?

Really - I have not recovered from this yet - and I think it will go on for years

Yours in the same puddle

Re: Feeling Gutted and agitated

Yes we share our love of literature too. @Decadian They are just rehearsed readings ... not productions.

If I didnt have the forum as an outlet I would have started talking out loud and cursing the gods like Lear ... on the moor... so it was better to have a relatively normal way to process my distress.

Its supposed to rain tomorrow ... so it will be a big communal puddle ...
