Feeling Gutted and agitated

Feeling Gutted and agitated

Feeling very agitated about 2 relationships in my life. I always start out optimistic but things backfire and somehow I feel very unworthy of any relationship.

Hi @Appleblossom

I read back on this thread - I agree with what other's say - and I forget who said what but you should not need to medicate yourself because other people have over-powering opinions

Is this troublesome woman your son's girlfriend - you don't have to put up with her really - she sounds bossy and self-entitled - and likes it better with her boyfriend's Dad - well - let her - tell her she can go there and be happy - but she is not allowed to offend you

It's a toughie - and I think there is a lot I don't know here - but I do understand you have problems with relationships and that your marriage was terribly painful

You need your space and your opinions too - and I don't know this young woman - and you love your son of course

I wish I could be more helpful - but one thing

I find playing the piano relaxing - I am glad you do too -

In the meantime you feel bad and I understand this - it happens to me with anything to do with my sister - um - toxic relationships

Take care of yourself first - and insist on this young woman's respect - insist on that and nothing less - which is easier said than done - I know

Just an FYI here ....

We take pain medication for headaches ....

There are many on-the-spot medications like that now for sleep support, anxiety, stress .... it comes back to society accepting the wide variety of human experience as a spectrum of normal, in my opinion ....

I hope I can say that with all due respect. I would be taking some support medication if there was little I could change, but needed to get through the moment.

Should be taking headache medication before some family visits as precautionary ❣

I agree @Faith-and-Hope first and foremost getting through is the most important but I feel so sad that in this case it's others actions that are causing such distress. I'm sure I would cope better too if I could take something when highly distressed but not an option with my history. I guess on reflection I would probably end up taking them because of distress caused by others too. @Appleblossom I hope you are ok today. Been thinking of you. 😊💜

Another FYI - I play Richard Claydernan piano music with earphones. even in the house, when I am upset. There is something about beartifuk piano music that I find calming.

Love that my kids all play ....

Hi @Faith-and-Hope I hope your day is going better now. Isn't it amazing how music can sooth us so well. I don't play the piano but my tteenager does. Love it when he plays. I also put on soothing music when I'm feeling a bit flat - before the agitation sets in.

Thinking of you @Appleblossom

Relationships can be very difficult, I understand. Your son's girlfriend sounds very disrespectful, especially as she is in your home. Makes it hard because you love your son. I don't blame you for taking meds when she is with you. I'd do the same. Sometimes we need something to help us cope. I keep my emergency meds with me all the time for that reason.

How long is your son and girlfriend staying with you? I hope you don't have to put up with her for too long, sounds very stressful and draining.

Are you ok? Sending love and hugs to you.

That's when I take action over myself @utopia, and try to find something to distract me.

Knowing that exercise releases some happy-hormones, walking is one of my go-to's. Piano music is another. I don't play - put off as a kid by too many scales and dreary music theory - but it's something I might get back to later, just for pleasure.

Meantime I have my phone + earphones, and kids who play differently from each other.
