Over-Doers Anonymous

Over-Doers Anonymous

Hi everyone

I have started a thread where we can share and help others by being able to discuss what happens when we do too much and pay for it

We can sympathise, empathise, share with each other - and maybe feel less idiotic about doing whatever it was that we didn't notice at the time

@FaithandHope like this idea - or maybe it was @Former-Member - but whichever - both of you will get a message knowing that I have started this

All right - for the first entry - I told someone my back felt better because I have been wearing better shoes - and we went outside into a freezing half-gale - that was not clever - but then - like everyone else - I have to go shopping

It's settled - but I am sure other people over-do - and yes - feel free to add your story

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

Hello everyone.

I over did, hehe! I have been over doing it on the laptop this week and my eyes, neck and back get very sore.

Due to my health, extreme fatigue etc, I have to push myself to do everything. Lack of motivation as soon as I wake up and I hate it, because I hate to waste life and I like to achieve. Plus Im fussy and I like everything to be clean and tidy, but lack the energy. When I, on the occassion, actually have some motivation and energy I over do it and I try to do everything in the one day. Then I pay for it for a day or two or three.

I over did it the other day, I pushed myself to climb a huge mountain with my daughter. It was so high, I honestly didnt think Id make it to the top, but I dont like to give up once I start something. So we went right up to the top and I freaked out when I saw how dangerous it looked to get back down again. So my over doing it that day caused me to feel flat for days.

I am over doing it now, because I am raving on too much, haha! I will stop now. :

Did I get the right idea of th Over-doers anonymous post?

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

Thanks @Former-Member

I am often on during the day - and sometimes it is quiet - but it will be busy again over the weekend I guess

And I do find ways to fill my creative mind - just really reading what people are writing and working hard to find what the real problem is -

Yes - I have had ups and downs - literally - two flights in a plane - and my landing in Canberra in high winds was definitely up and down and sideways and people were startled from time to time when the plane dropped suddenly -

Oh I do like to ride the roller coaster - or the Big Dipper - the last time I did that I over-did - it was Cup Day and I used up all my tickets on the Big Dipper and I started a new job the next day and my spine gave me a hard time that day - luckily accountants get to sit down most of the day

But that was fun -

But I over-did it. I really did - so we can over-do so easily - even having the time of our lives we can over-do it

Ha-ng on though - this is the time of our lives - these are the Good Old Days

This thread might be my undoing

Yes - @Former-Member

I wonder though - if this is your moment of truth for today anyway - your husband said "Go to bed" - not "Come to bed" ??

There's a world of different there [blush]

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

Hi @Former-Member

I had to take a day off from the screen - sinus pressure - and this meant the TV as well - and generally unhappy at times - but not as bad as I have been other years

This site is so interesting - I have to limit my time too - but then I remember how my mother - who could be very standoffish - talking to her neighbour over the back fence and they would both encourage me to sing for lollies - the neighbour gave me lollies -

And I don't think that social media is that much different - but yes - we do have other things to do - and we can get caught up with the conversations

And it is encouraging to know that you are trying to keep contact with me and some others here - there was some talk of having a profile so that people could have an idea of who had what happening - and that their is a lot of cross contact with people having similar problems - or having had them in the past - and also - the young people - and I have to try and write differently for them - so it helps to know that there are young people and who they are

But then of course - we can over-do being on social media - what is it? Something is happening - there is an interesting converation - I find I can over-do there too - or on Facebook where I have contacts - and this is good for a person who is socially minded but a bit isolated at times - very isolated at times

We can over-do the isolation too - in fact - this is becoming very interesting - I had never seen the implications of over-doing in such a bright light before

I am hoping you are okay

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

Definately @Former-Member

You have caught on really fast - in fact - when I started this I had no idea where it was going and just how many things can get to be over-doers do

Like you I have my health not being good - and I sit to long with the computer on my lap and yet still get a stiff neck - I try and break it up during the day

But I don't walk up mountains anymore - I remember the days - we walked up an dormant volcano in Victoria - that's when my kids were young - and we drove around and around over-doing it trying to find our way into this mountain sticking up out of the middle of the volcanic flat

So we over-did walking up the mountain - maybe it's the same mountain you and your daughter climbed - and all the way Son griped "Whenarewegunnamakeanendofthis - whenarewegunnamakeandendof this" - ah - already overdid it - but still - I wanted to see the view - and we got to the top and like you I saw this was not a safe place at all.

So we started down and Daughter started - "I'mtiredIwannabecarried - I'mtiredIwannabecarried"

Eugh - I forgot how kids can whine and it certainly overdoing the typing to put all those words into one sentence

But this is fun - I might overdo things by staying on the computer too long tonight

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

😀 @Decadian I'm still here I always have a look around on here and facebook when I get to bed. Facebook can be boring sometimes. I love it when I find old friends or relatives on facebook though.
This week a friend found me on facebook. I haven't seen him since I was 13, when my family lived overseas. I was so touched that he remembered me and wanted to get in touch.
It brought tears to my eyes remembering the wonderful times and friends I had over there.

I'm over doing the chatting again. 😂

I always over do shopping with my daughter. We go for hours, walking around looking for bargains. We love shopping for clothes, on the special racks. Very tiring though. 😊

I overdo most things ... I try and have restraint .. but not good at that

I overdo on the forums ... wuth music .. with reading ... with writing ... with trying to be a good lover ... wife ... mother ... sister ... forumite ...

At the moment I am close to overdoing the diaze ... trying to keep my insecuirty and agitation under control when I think people are being cruel to me. had a great choir practise yesterday ... but very not well.

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

@Decadian. One for the so called 'non doers .
Somedays I sleep far too much - which in turn puts me in a bad mood - I become irritable & then I geel guilty and the negative self talking starts up.
Amother one,
My friend is single parent. After days off worklooking after her sick child. I said id look after her, you go to work.
9.00am til 5pm. With a 4 year old child. Doesn't like my food. Is bored. I was looking at the clock on the wall & the minutes ticked by so slowly. As soon as the mum walked in the door. I needed to look after my teenager. But I needed a nap first. I slept from 5.30pm til 8.00am. My son fed himself, looked afted the dogs and put himself to bed.
Will have to learn to say no next time. 3 hrs will be limit. I have to be here for my son first.

Re: Over-Doers Anonymous

Hi @utopia@Former-Member@Appleblossom@Former-Member@Former-Member and anyone else I might have missed

We overdo on the strangest things - I had not thought about this - I thought this idea would draw water but I think I have enough info to start my own business here -

Thanks for jumping on board

@utopia

It is definitely over-doing the "being kind to others" idea to look after some else's 4 year old for a whole day while they look for work - or work - 3 hours at a time sounds fine - after a whole day with a bored and whiny child I would be ready for a padded room - just for the privacy there - and the peace and quiet - and having to wait until someone else opened the door.

And we have people over-doing shopping, needing restraint with things, and Face Book and Forums -

Yes!!! - if you feel as if you do too much of this it's over-doing I guess - but if we are enjoying ourselves then is it over-doing?

The idea would be to ask if what we are doing is at our detriment or someone else's

I think I over-did the typing - one of my arthritic fingers is having a say so - and I use all of my fingers typing -

What a wonderful response - I did not think this would happen but it is so great having people telling me that over-doers over-do much and under-doers also over-do on the under-doing

That's life
