I tried EMDR and unfortunately it didn't work for me @Lee82 @Snowie @TideisTurning @Eve7 @Anastasia Although I've heard it's been helpful for others. 💞

I am so sorry it didn't work for you hun. I have heard it is very effective but I guess it all depends on the individual. I hope it works for me but I am not holding my breathe.

I'm thinking my experiences with it might be a little different @Lee82 as I did it in a psychologist's office/room, which is partially why I suggested asking the person who'll be doing the EMDR with you- also because they often have little fact sheets you can take away which explain the process a bit more.
For me, they tried two different ways of doing the processing part- one with moving their fingers, which I had to follow with my eyes and also with buzzers I held in my hands that buzzed rhythmically (one and then the other, controlled by the psych). It was intense, but they did quite a lot of prep work beforehand to ensure I had strategies to deal with it. I hope that helps! 😊

Trying to be positive here @Snowie @Lee82
What about you?
Grief isn't something one can't rush through. But I'm trying to find my way.
Im try to deal with my feelings/emotions and other people are trying to tell me what I should be doing. They have no idea. I don't understand why they think can tell me what I should be doing. Gosh! Telling me I should be making peace with certain family members. Wow! Hard enough losing my mother and now having to deal with other people's opinions. You know what I mean, re brother and :pile_of_poo: Sorry, I don't mean to dump my problems on you. Im just venting really. No need to reply. Honestly. 💞

Hey @Lee82 It definitely worth trying. Please don't give up. 🥰

ohhh @Former-Member
I can so relate to what you are saying. There is a certain family member I have cut out of my life. I get told constantly that I should forgive them because they are family. It is hard to deal with and even harder when we don't have support.

My experience with EMDR sounds similar to yours @TideisTurning .
@Lee82 it is definitely worth trying. Prior to CBT, Exposure Therapy and then EMDR ... I could not even think about my trauma experience without a major trauma response, let alone talk about it. I found it helps to reduce some of the really intense emotions around the trauma.
If you have any questions between now and July, please dont hesitate to ask. If I can answer, I will.
Emelia 😊

I am about to start ISTDP. Has anyone done that?

No @Eve7 I'd never heard of ISTDP until you mentioned it last week. 😄
