Need advice please (info below).

Need advice please (info below).

Some people I've already told about this, but I'll tag them again just to keep it to one thread. So as the title suggests, I need some advice please.

I saw a MH Nurse in my suburb, and no there's no one else I can see, a MH Nurse or not, where I live. I am seeing a social worker next week so I hope that goes ok, can't be any worse, well I hope not.

I've seen this MH Nurse twice, first time was rushed because he didn't know about it. Second time his whole attitude changed - he was so rude, abrupt and controlling.

He told me I scored a high score, 50 or something, on a K10 test (yes I was being completely honest in my answers), but then he said to me that he thinks I'm faking my mental illnesses. Of course that ISN'T true. My Psychiatrist (who is great, I don't have a problem with him) even sent him stuff with my diagnoseses.

Not only that, but he said that I see my Psychiatrist too much, although he agreed and is happy to see me every 2-3 weeks (he knows I have no other professional help and he told me he told the MH Nurse this), that I expect too much of him and I don't appreciate what he's done for me.

NONE of that is true - I always thank my Psychiatrist, and I appreciate him and what he's done for me, and I tell him this. He agreed to see me every 2-3 weeks, and I don't expect a thing from him. We talk about medication, symptoms, my mood, and whatever else comes up/what he asks me.

I'm so hurt and offended by this, and I feel betrayed by this rude MH Nurse, I wasn't to know this would happen. I feel bad even just typing this out and posting it, but I need to get it off my chest. This has even upset my parents.

Oh also, he called my Psychiatrist behind my back, is trying to call my GP, AND the Headspace centre I went to where I had a bad experience (turns out he used to work there). I told him I DIDN'T want him to do that, and he even called my Mum behind my back. My Psychiatrist has NEVER asked to speak with my parents, although I'd be fine if he did because I know he would ask me.

When I told him what happened at Headspace (I won't go into detail about that, its too triggering), he stood up for them and thought I was lying too.

So, my question is, should I complain? My parents think I should. I'll be telling my Psychiatrist and then taking it from there. I know he won't be happy.

I feel so hurt, betrayed and like my privacy and trust has been taken away. I definitely don't feel comfortable and I don't trust this guy at all. He's going behind my back and doing stuff, bad stuff, and hiding things.

He's trying to get my Psychiatrist to hate me and not see me anymore, and I don't want that. So I hope my psychiatrist doesn't do that.

Please help, any suggestions anyone? I'll probably just cry telling my psychiatrist because this has been so upsetting for me.

And to be honest, before I even saw the MH Nurse, my Psychiatrist told me they spoke over the phone, I said I apologise because I wasn't aware that he would do that, and my psychiatrist looked at me funny and his tone of voice seemed like he didn't like him, without making assumptions. So that in itself says something.

Thanks.

Hey @Former-Member 🙂 It's nice to see you again. I was just wandering around the forum and noticed your post and wanted to send some support your way. Sounds like a bit if a mixed appointment yesterday. How are you going today?

Re: Need advice please (info below).

@NatureLover I'm not sure about the meds change, he said I'd have to change them because my side effects just randomly came rather than when i started this dosage, like all of a sudden. hard to explain. but he said that they shouldn't have done that and that I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate them and try something else. I was on a higher dosage of this one but I had to go back down because I felt terrible.

I guess its common to change meds, some people try 7 or more before they find the right one.

@CheerBear oh thank you, thanks for the kind words. Yes I hope I didn't annoy him. My parents just said that he could've been busy or had a bad day or maybe unwell (not the virus maybe a stomach bug or something). I hope he's ok either way. So I don't know how to feel really, I feel a bit better but also anxious.

I can't remember the name of the prescription and I can't say it here anyway, but I remember him telling me to start on a small dosage, and take it from there I think he said, it was mostly talking about the Nurse and saying I should do things (I know he's trying to help but I've explained to him that its a hard situation and a lot to look into and consider, not just lately with the virus).

So I had to email someone at the Telehealth company to forward my questions onto him.

Also @CheerBear , just curious if you read the 1st post on this thread of mine? It was about what happened with the Nurse, if you'd like to read it. No big deal, just incase you were wondering what happened, sorry its long aswell as the post I just wrote and before

@Former-Member sounds like you're on the right track. My psychiatrist did a telehealth apt with me for this first time and he tried to wrap things up quickly as well so not uncommon.

Re: Need advice please (info below).

@Bezak482 sorry to hear that they wrapped up quickly.

I see my psychiatrist through Telehealth anyway and have since the first time I saw him, can't say the company name because of rules here. But he's in Sydney and I'm in Victoria so thats also why

Re: Need advice please (info below).

@Former-Member , seems like a pretty good appointment overall. I am so happy he was disgusted in the nurse's behaviour and rightly so. Sounds like he might of been a little unwell today, so glad he didn't cancel your appointment if that's the case. I don't think it had anything to do with you, he just sounds unwell. Fingers crossed the new meds are effective. Sending you huge hugs and lots of love my friend

Re: Need advice please (info below).

hey @Former-Member
sounds like a supportive session today with the psychiatrist.
try not to take his actions today to heart, he could very well be having a bad day, unwell or could just be tired too.
hope your new meds are better for you

Re: Need advice please (info below).

Hey @Former-Member I am so glad that your appointment went well yesterday and that a meds changed has happened. Hopefully these ones will work well with you. I wouldn't take his actions to heart at all. He could have been having an off day which we all have every now and then.
Did he tell you how to complain about the nurse? Also can you have longer sessions with him at all? 20mins doesn't sound like a long time at all.
I'm glad you are back on the forums and giving us all an update. It is much appreciated to know how you are going 😊

Re: Need advice please (info below).

@Former-Member - well yeah I guess the appointment was good. It started the way it usually does, he goes "hey (my name, can't say it here because of rules)), can you see and hear me ok?" And I always say "hi, yes". Then he asks me how I've been since we last spoke, then I told him about this rude Nurse, and as I mentioned in the above post, he just said it was all wrong and he doesn't condone that and he's sorry that it happened.

I told him I feel more depressed and more you know (I'm sure you get what I mean, don't want to say it here to break rules). And he was writing everything down, like he always does. But normally he has a straight face, he looked a bit angry (at the Nurse I assume) and was trying to write stuff down in a hurry but he asked me to repeat what I said, and I said "sorry I'm talking fast, I'm just anxious. I do this a lot". But yeah he just said it's unacceptable and I should complain.

I wonder if he's going to do anything with his notes or contact the Nurse, or if the Nurse contacts him, if anything will be done.

I have a feeling this Nurse is going to call my Mum again or even my Psychiatrist because I won't be turning up to the appointment I'm supposed to have with the Nurse on the 18th. I'm even worried he'll come around to my house. He better not but my Mum and Psychiatrist will stick up for me. Well my Mum will, I hope my Psychiatrist does.

Sorry for rambling on. Yes he could've been unwell, I hope he's ok. I tried to think a bit better and tried to reassure myself, as did my parents.

I said to my parents he probably needs to prepare himself for seeing me, probably has Vodka in his glass instead of water or something strong to prepare for me, since I'm such a handful. I was saying it in a joking way not insulting him but it's probably true

Re: Need advice please (info below).

@outlander that's true, it could all be a possibility. Thanks for the reassurance.

Yes he's always supportive, I just feel like I annoy him. You know, getting him to do my prescriptions for me (which he can do as a Psychiatrist but a GP should be doing that too), but he has to and I tell him this because it's the only way I'll get them.

I tell my GP (I haven't seen her in months because I'm just wasting my time and they're only doing phone calls, last time the call with her went for literally 3 mins and I couldn't hear her because she had me on speaker) that he said to prescribe me a certain med and dosage, and I said call him or fax or whatever you do if you need proof (although he does my Psychiatry letters but that usually takes a few days for him to do, he hasn't done some for the last few sessions but I think he just forgot or it's because he seems to be working from home, I don't know, could be a few reasons).

Anyway the GP just says "speak to your Psychiatrist and get him to prescribe them for you" which I say "I do and he says that you as a GP should prescribe them for me, plus you're closer, he's in a whole different state and he has to send them in the mail for me when I can just see you and get them the same day, is it that hard?" but she still refuses and I told my Psychiatrist this. I know that she needs proof but seriously thats a joke, am I right?

He said he'll write to her and say that too. I hope no drama comes out of that, but if it does then it does, he has a right to say that just like I do. I feel like he has to do so much for me and I say this to him
