Tough Times

Tough Times

I thought I'd open up this discussion for anyone going through a rough time at the moment and want to get some extra support.
I am struggling a lot at the moment dealing with a range of things. One thing a struggle with is Anxiety. This is something I deal with everyday. I wake up with it every morning and fall asleep (when I sleep) with it every night. Some days are worse than other days. Distractions play a big part in coping with it daily. At the moment being stuck at home schooling my kids is my biggest distraction. It helps most of the time however sometimes it can be a real struggle to stay present and calm. We as a family try to go for a walk everyday. We take our family dog with us. Another distraction for me is cooking but this can be a challenge as I struggle with motivating myself but when I get into it I create some nice things. Today my 8year old son and I made oat based banana and chic chip muffins. 😋😋

I hope everyone's day has been a good day filled with self care and motivation.

Re: Tough Times

Thanks @Sans911 that helps a little. Your to kind to me but I really appreciate your support.
Lonilness is a dangerous thing for me but since being on this forum I have made some really lovely friends and I am so grateful for that because I don't feel so alone anymore. My friendship with @Former-Member means a lot to me and I can't bare to think I caused her pain and worry. Every relationship I have had has always ended in them leaving me because of my MH that includes my marriage. I believe his words were I didn't go through what you went through. It is your past so why should I be affected by it. Anyway I couldn't bare to lose another friendship because of my MH. this is why I am afraid to share too much or ask for help. I really do need to work on allowing myself to reach out to others and feel ok about doing it. I just beat myself up over it all the time.
I will try and find something that I can do for myself today...( I always find this really difficult to do.) and I will tell you about tonight. 💕 thank you

Re: Tough Times

Happy to help @Former-Member and be supportive. It actually helped me a lot to distract from what had happened earlier in the evening to me.

Both Zoe and I have been in the forums for some time now and we often are supportive as much as we possibly can be. There are other members who are the same. We're probably a little further along our recovery journey then some newer members so it's easier for us to be supportive. We still have our struggles and battles though, but as you might of seen last night with what happened to me, I had so many people come and support me, including a moderator. And I didn't tag anyone at all!! 💕 💕

In time you will learn so much from these forums. And you get out of them what you put in. You and Lee are doing just fine at the moment.

@Former-Member

I am so glad and relieved to hear you were about to look after yourself babe and so great to hear you have already done your meditation this morning.
You are right about this morning babe. I wasn't expecting any response after last night but the support and care everyone has shown is amazing. This is a foreign feeling for me. I thank you all so very much.
@Sans911 and @Zoe7 your advice and encouragement is amazing and comforting! Thank you so much.

and @The-red-centaur don't ever feel like you are interrupting. So glad you enjoyed your coffee with @Sans911

Re: Tough Times

Never apologise @Lee82 for reaching out for help. I followed along here for a while last night, but could see you were in good hands with @Sans911 @Former-Member @Zoe7 . I have been where you were last night, more times than I care to remember. Panic attacks really are the pits. You did well to communicate here as well as you did ...so well done on that. In the midst of a bad panic attack, it sometimes feels as though its impossible to pull yourself out of it. My clinical psychologist has helped me a lot with techniques to help with coping during and leading up to panic attacks. What works best for me is what Sans was doing with you ... grounding techniques. Its a matter of using all your 5 senses to help draw you out of your panic. For example ... what do you SEE (furniture, tele, pets, scenery, etc) around you ... what do you FEEL (texture of your pillow, touch of a pet, feel of cold water on your face) ... what can you SMELL (steaming hot coffee, scent of flowers in a vase, blossom on the breeze outside) ... what can you HEAR (traffic, wind in the trees, birds chirping) ... what can you TASTE (salt as tears fall down your face, come comfort chocolate, coffee). All this is aimed at distracting the thoughts that are causing the panic in the first place. It can take practice. I still dont always get it right. But I know what I need to do, and try my best. The other thing is ... breathe! In and out, count the breaths, slow and controlled. Mindful breathing in other words.

Glad you're feeling better today. You can tag me if you ever need some company, and others may not be around at the time. I'm usually not far away. Hope today is better for you.

Sherry 💕

Re: Tough Times

Thank you so much @Former-Member.

I do try all those techniques but I can never do it on my own without someone helping to prompt me. When I'm on my own all I can do is ride it out. @Sans911 gave me some good techniques last night but trying to concentrate on breathing, concentrate on reading, concentrate on writing and concentrate on staying grounded just was too much.

@Lee82

You deserve and are worth every bit of love, care and support that you received here on the forum. Your worth is unmeasurable. You are so valuable it can not ever be counted. You breath, you have life and are worth it. 💖

i do hope my post did not contribute to the panic but I am concerned they did. I’m sorry for that, but am also thankful for a space to talk about it where others truely understand.

Re: Tough Times

Thank you so much @mudsum that means a lot. It hard for me to believe those things but definitely helps to hear them so thank you for that.
Your post definitely did not contribute to my panic attack. That was to do with my exh and seeing him earlier last night.
I hope today is better for you @mudsum and you find just a little peace today. 🌹
