Tough Times

Tough Times

I thought I'd open up this discussion for anyone going through a rough time at the moment and want to get some extra support.
I am struggling a lot at the moment dealing with a range of things. One thing a struggle with is Anxiety. This is something I deal with everyday. I wake up with it every morning and fall asleep (when I sleep) with it every night. Some days are worse than other days. Distractions play a big part in coping with it daily. At the moment being stuck at home schooling my kids is my biggest distraction. It helps most of the time however sometimes it can be a real struggle to stay present and calm. We as a family try to go for a walk everyday. We take our family dog with us. Another distraction for me is cooking but this can be a challenge as I struggle with motivating myself but when I get into it I create some nice things. Today my 8year old son and I made oat based banana and chic chip muffins. 😋😋

I hope everyone's day has been a good day filled with self care and motivation.

Re: Tough Times

I need some advice about something. Hoping someone can help. I stopped taking my anti depressants just after Christmas. I was just so fed up of everything. I basically gave up. I stopped seeing my psychologist and psychiatrist. I pretty much was ready to end it all. Every week I was just waiting for the right time. Luckily that time never came. 5 months on and I'm still not on my anti depressants and the last several weeks I have been thinking whether I should maybe give them another try. I did feel like being on them wasn't helping but now being off them for so long perhaps they were helping maybe just a little.
I'm afraid to mention this to my psychologist and psychiatrist as they don't know I stopped them. Should I tell them? And if I do tell them are they going to suggest I go back into hospital? I really don't know what to do.

and anyone else I may have missed or who is passing through. I would really appreciate some advice.

Hi @Lee82

If I was in the same situation as you then I would tell my psychologist and psychiatrist. They are there to help you and not judge you.

There are many different anti depressent tablets around. I know for me it took quite awhile to find the right medication for me.

Remember you need to look after yourself first and if that means hospital then so be it. Perhaps they won't mention it, you really can't be sure until you have told them.

On another note, how are you today?

Re: Tough Times

Hey @Lee82 Great to see you this morning and I am so glad you got some sleep. Yes I was among others that were worried about you but we never know exactly why someone disappears for a while and have to believe everything is okay (as okay as it can be) until we hear something.

As for your current situation with meds, pdoc and psychologist - I feel now in your current situation it is really important for you to reconnect with your supports and get their advice on meds and a way to move forward. You may be right that not being on your meds has added to your present situation and although you may have thought they were not doing you any good being able to look back on the effects they were having you may feel differently about that now. We can of course suggest a way forward for you but that advice really needs to come from you gp, pdoc and/or psychologist.

Re: Tough Times

Thank you @Snowie for your advice. I have tried a few different meds and the last one I was put on my psychiatrist kept putting up.
I can't go back to hospital right now it's just not possible. I don't want to take the risk

@Zoe7 I'm so sorry I worried you last night. I feel pretty bad about that.
Thank you for your advice @Zoe7
I will think about sharing it with them however my biggest fear is them giving up on me and sending me to hospital

Re: Tough Times

Please don't feel bad about last night @Lee82 I was worried but that is because I care - in saying that I hoped you had slept after your panic attack and I was pleased to hear that was the case this morning. I also took care of myself by sleeping when I needed to so whilst I was concerned I was also hopeful that you were okay. As I said last night - we can never fully know what is happening for someone else and all we cn do is provide our care, concern and support when/if it is needed - the rest has to be up to each individual. You did what you needed to do in sleep and that is more than okay Hon - it is in-fact self care and that is important. So don't be worried about us and our concerns because those are for us to carry - the priority is, and will always be, yourself and looking after you first.

Re: Tough Times

Thank you for saying all that @Zoe7 it helps a lot to know that you were able to self care and get some rest.

Today I really am feeling the ramifications of last night. I feel like I have a massive hangover and zero energy to do anything. I feel quite numb which I think is my bodies way of protecting itself right now. Thoughts are around. I have mum all up in my face today and I just want to be left alone.
how are you and tobes doing?

Re: Tough Times

hey @Lee82
I agree with what others have said in that chatting with your supports especially now is a really good idea.
Also you can speak to your psychiatrist and let them know you aren't sure whether the previous ones were working and they can try you on another. for some people it takes a few different medications/combinations to find the right one for them.
Take it easy and lots of self care things today

Re: Tough Times

No luck finding a GP? I'm so sorry to hear about everything that is going on. You must feel really frustrated. I hope you get the help you need and deserve from the right medical team soon. It is kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack but once you find what you need it will be worth it. Stay positive and strong honey. @outlander

not a good day for me today. Just on the couch in and out of sleep with the tv on in the background for a little noise.
