Burn out

Burn out

Good afternoon,

I am so happy to be here with people who can understand. I have had anxiety disorder and depression for 29 years and the first I was aware that something was wrong was the day of my first panic attack which led to Agorophobia within two weeks. I was working at the time and was unable to work for 18 months. I managed to return to a new job and worked for many years however I have never been able to live a normal life. I am on medication and have regular therapy, exercise regularly and try to eat a balanced healthy diet. Sixteen months ago I had a breakdown due to work pressures, ended up in hospital for a month and have not been able to work since. I have just been diagnosed with Burn out and was told that I may never get any better and would have to manage my mental illness. I am really struggling and feel completely worthless, most days I don't want to live, I feel as though I am just existing. I live alone and my adult daughters live a long distance from me. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge or assistance you can offer.

Thank you

Re: Burn out

Thank you @Owlunar for your message and the support. I am having a tough time and have been since my breakdown in 2018 and subsequent hospitilisation. I despair that things will improve, it is taking such a long time and I don't seem to be able to cope with any form of pressure, even my Tafe course is creating anxiety.

Thank you

Re: Burn out

You probably meant to tag me not jupiter in your reply and don't worry about it.

With your background, you are well positioned to be a mentor to folks who are

negotiating the system. .

Kudos for lasting as long as you had at the coal face, soaking up all the

vicarious trauma. I was employed within the justice system when I dropped down

the rabbit hole the first time.

Having been in that despairing dark place numerous times, I found it very

challenging to roll with the despair, when around me were people living the

life that I assumed I was going to have. -

One of my favourite songs is Free by Rudimental that has the beautiful lyric ::

This ain't exactly what my heart expected

Just going to pop this link in as this mob were helpful and I'm noticing that

the M-word hasn't been mentioned yet...

Re: Burn out

Great to hear you got out for a walk @sadpisces especially because of your agrophobia - that is some achievement Hon 👍😁

A bugger about the study - it is super hard when you cannot concentrate but I am sure your persistence will pay off. What course are you doing?

Hi @Zoe7 thank you for your woderful support. I hope you've had a great day.

I am studying Business Administration Cert 3. Tafe resumes next week and the delivery won't be face to face in the classroom. It will be a short session via Mircosoft Teams with the teacher at the start of the lesson and then working through on your own. I'm not sure how I will manage but I am going to try.

Good morning @sadpisces Doing classes via the internet is hard but hopefully it will go okay and then you can get on with the rest on your own. Just about to get moving here to get stuck into some sanding then painting this afternoon. May need a np in between but will see how I feel after I do the sanding. Hope your day is going okay
