Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Zoe7 I guess what I'm trying to say is I have done my rounds to make sure what I have heard in person just is backed up by others during phone calls to to certain organisations across Australia. I also have phone recordings of what happened in the mental health centre where I was treated. I also spoke to medical doctors in person that came full forth with their experiences of the system they working every day. So this isn't just a few people this is now many. I was shocked and couldn't believe what I was hearing and if I heard this from someone else for the first time I probably wouldn't believe it either. My frustration for the broken system we have today can sometimes be hard eating for people and I don't like to put people down, no one is perfect. I just have a hard time believing in two week short term study or a two month so called term study to say they are just better than placebo when ppl take them longer than that. And also placebo can be great the studies have also shown this. But then the medication starts to flatten out and you have to take more. Dr's mainly look at the 2 month study because they have been designed by drug companies that make money to publish them. Unfortunately they don't publish the ones that didn't work out because it looks better on paper. The proper long term studies get hidden in PubMed and out side of the journals and they are not good. That's where the disease kicks in. Many Dr's don't look at all the data because they don't have the time, it's the sad truth.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

Hi @Sans911 , thanks for bringing that to our attention. It may not get fixed tonight although @Former-Member or one of the other CMs will look into it as soon as possible. Thanks again and take care

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Former-Member why can I not have an opinion that I don't think mental illness actually exist? It's very hard for me to express myself on this forum like I don't have a voice. If you could point out to me evidence before medication I would love that. And not by death rate by scientific analysis proof and where abouts in the brain it comes from. Shouldn't I be asking this question?

You have every right to ask the questions and have your point of view @krs What many of us are also saying is that it needs to be respected that we do not all share that view and that our views are equally to be respected.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Zoe7 ok that's fine and I understand it's all up to the individual to figure it out for them self. And I am also expressing my personal experience and as many others that have made it out of the system. Often treated very badly especially with a label of schizophrenia. I hope that more of the information gets out there so people can really honestly weigh up the choices, unfortunately that isn't happening too well in Australia and some other countries. But there are also many that are changing I feel sad to know we haven't.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

Hi @krs I can well relate to most of what you've said.

The MH "System" & the label of "Schizophrenia" totally destroyed my intelligent (educated) friend's health, & his life.

Specifically the psychotropic medications ruined his health - & left him with serious long-term physical illnesses.

Whilst not improving his MH conditions at all (I might add).

He has spent almost 30 years in MH institutions.

Being well-schooled by the Book "Toxic Psychiatry" by Peter Breggin (a World-Famous Psychiatrist) - I do not agree with virtually any of the "Pro-psychotropic" medication opinions being expressed.

Kind Regards,

Adge

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Former-Memberthanks but there's not much point. I'm thoroughly confused as to which post is where. I've essentially withdrawn from the discussion out of respect to other members being confronted with a heated discussion on the introduction thread, and if it isn't until tommorow that the extra post/s are moved conversation has well and truly moved on and my input is invalidated. I understand the complexity of this forum in trying to maintain an even keel, but in that process members get cut out. And that hurts.

It's probably for the better anyway as I felt less and less respected by a particular member, so I've also withdrawn for my own preservation.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Adge Thank you Adge, it a really difficult topic to work around and extremely complicated especially when there is so much control in the system we have today. Information definitely needs to get out there but the power of money is just too great. I now suffer from iatrogenic damage caused by dr's and from long term use, I finally found someone that understand this in person. Dr Peter breggin which call it a brain impairment.

Thanks for the acknowledgement.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Sans911 I'm totally open to a discussion when information gets fed to me that is wrong I shouldn't I have an opinion so likewise the other way around to. Extremely important for this to happen. You've made a statement and I made one back and now you don't want to talk which is ok, but I feel as though they might be some of the reason, and it's only human to question that going by what was said.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

I am very sorry to hear that @krs Yes Dr Peter Breggin would (does) call it brain impairment.

My friend also has severe iatrogenic damage, caused by medications - now irreversible, in his case.

I would not wish to see that happen to anyone - yet that is out of my control (sadly).
