Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Zoe7 I guess what I'm trying to say is I have done my rounds to make sure what I have heard in person just is backed up by others during phone calls to to certain organisations across Australia. I also have phone recordings of what happened in the mental health centre where I was treated. I also spoke to medical doctors in person that came full forth with their experiences of the system they working every day. So this isn't just a few people this is now many. I was shocked and couldn't believe what I was hearing and if I heard this from someone else for the first time I probably wouldn't believe it either. My frustration for the broken system we have today can sometimes be hard eating for people and I don't like to put people down, no one is perfect. I just have a hard time believing in two week short term study or a two month so called term study to say they are just better than placebo when ppl take them longer than that. And also placebo can be great the studies have also shown this. But then the medication starts to flatten out and you have to take more. Dr's mainly look at the 2 month study because they have been designed by drug companies that make money to publish them. Unfortunately they don't publish the ones that didn't work out because it looks better on paper. The proper long term studies get hidden in PubMed and out side of the journals and they are not good. That's where the disease kicks in. Many Dr's don't look at all the data because they don't have the time, it's the sad truth.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Former-Member can I ask why you decided to remove just the three last ones? And why not the one before?

@Former-Member

Are the mods actually reading this?

Like really...

Because any we move after would also pull other members comments who were introducing themselves into the community, please contain this conversation here and refrain from posting about this further in introduce yourself, thanks both @krs

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

This is what I asked earlier to be done @Former-Member and it was clearly relayed in this post https://saneforums.org/t5/Our-stories/Introduce-yourself-here/td-p/136201/page/377 that individual posts could not be removed - yet this has now been done - I am struggling to find the consistency here. There is also a contiuation of this discussion by @Sans911 that has not been moved - again I am completely at a loss how this is consistent.

It's easier to keep it here I think.

New members won't be turned away.

@Former-Member

That do not explain why the number got drawn at the last 3. I could have been a last one or the one before. Most forum admins just put locks on posts or shift them to another topic.

Re: I've been labelled as treatment resistant schizophrenic

@Sans911 @krs @Zoe7

We have moved here.

We are talking about meds I believe.

Medication is simply part of a treatment plan. Some people use it and some people do not.

To argue that it is a silver bullet or alternatively, that it does nothing is wrong.

This is why a thorough medical history is required when prescribing medication for mental health. It's also why medication tends to get a bad image - some believe it is a wonder drug. But this is not the case I don't believe that anyone here is arguing that it is. As I hinted at earlier - medication works best (evidence) for people who have prospects of improving their livelihoods from the outset.

@Zoe7 is yet another example of someone who has used medication as part of her ongoing treatment plan. I am the same.

@krs as soon as someone puts forward different evidence to what you have said, rather than engage with it you dismiss it as flat out wrong. Rather than do that you should be talking to the points we have made.

Initially you denied mental health existed. Then you said it did. Then you said something else. You keep jumping around the point.

I think you need to make the case once and for all so that we may actually understand your position

I for one thing that there is a risk in using the medical model too heavily for the treatment of mental health like depression or anxiety. Perhaps for some more serious forms too. However there js a reason for the difference between psychiatry and psychology.
