Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

Just read ypur update @Shaz51 , thank you for tagging me . *big supportive hug*. Wow, it sounds like the next 3-6 months presents a lot of unknowns and preparation. I am glad you can get the dialysis from home to save the travel time (and doing it overnight soubds great so you can still do things during the day), but that you will also have the option to do it in the city if you need to.

I hope that you will feel supported to learn how to set it up yourself each day, and that you can get access to nurse helpers if you need help with learning initially.

I really admire your resilience in facing these challenges as they come, and somehow also having extra emotional space left for caring for your partner and others on the forum too. I love that you are real about when days are more difficult to cope with, and we are always here for you. I will be as much as I am able to, because I care and value you. 🥰😍

Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

Do you get anxious when waiting for results @Shaz51 ?

Hoping they come back "good" (in terms of your normal range of possible options). How often do you have to get the bloods done and review with the specialist? (3monthly? 6 monthly?)

How are you with the blood test needles?

I know even having diabetes testing and insulin injections doesn't mean a person can't still struggle with needles, so I don't want to assume.

I noticed today I have a blue-bruise from my blood test yesterday lol. It doesn't hurt though. If it was larger/darker and perfectly round I could draw a smiley face on it 😅 I think I'll try to remember that for next time I have a dark round bruise in a visible place 😎 - because why not?

Do you get anxious when waiting for results --- yes wondering if all the readings are going to say they are worse or are staying the same @AlwaysMyself

How often do you have to get the bloods done and review with the specialist? ---- every 3 months now

How are you with the blood test needles?--- I am ok with them but the nurses and doctors have trouble getting my blood , it is always 2 or 3 tries to get some blood

I know even having diabetes testing and insulin injections --- with these it depends where you put the injections and the diabetes testing , most of them dont hurt

Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

Oh, that is interesting that you notice some places hurt more or less with the diabetes-related needles. This does make sense, though - because of our nerves / sensitivity, etc. @Shaz51

When I was first diagnosed with insulin resistance I wanted to know how different foods were impacting my blood sugar levels (because I know that there are variations within people individually, beyond the general advice). And I'm a curious person so i find science like that interesting too. So I decided to buy a glucose test kit from the chemist. I did it for 2-3 days (testing 2-3 times a day) before I just could not bear it any longer on my fingertip. It was the constant aching (like a throbbing bruise). Lol, I'm a woose (not in a bad way though) since it was not required of me to check my blood sugars since it was only on lifestyle modification & tablets.

Sitting with you in your anxious waiting @Shaz51 .

Re: Chronic kidney disease & mental health

a glucose test kit from the chemist. , did you do the testing with different fingers for each testing @AlwaysMyself

and also the Morning test is the most important one as it is your fasting test , be interested in what yours in the morning before you eating anything

yes it is interesting , people think if your don't eat sugar you will be ok

but it is also the foods, drinks and tables exercise and stress that makes a difference too
