Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I'm thinking of trying a weekly time blocking type thing so it's not so rigid. Like block off time for chores... time for self care... time for exercise... time for whatever else. Instead of having set days for set chores which was what I had before... but then if that chore happened to not need doing I'd end up with free time and a monkey mind.

What's for dinner tonight? I'm thinking toast with the last of the mushroom ragout over. Your lunch sounded awfully delicious 😋 I haven't had that for years!

I think this sounds very sensible. 👍

I have no idea what to have for dinner tonight. Usually as you know I'm planning my next meal as soon as I've finished the last, hehe. My lunch was delicious - I made it with vintage cheese so it was really strong. But it means that I ought to have veggies or fruit for dinner...hmmm.

Your dinner reminds me of a yummy meal I used to cook as a poor student: toast with curried veggies on top. Just veggies, mainly potato and zucchini and carrot, first boiled then sauteed with butter and curry powder. I might make that again soon...

@NatureLover You might not be old enough to remember but a long time ago they had these round puff pastry type crackers that could be split open and the trend with poor students at the time was to fill them with that canned braised steak and onion muck. My flat mates used to scoff so much of that.. the smell turned my stomach but the crackers were the bomb! Wish I could remember what they were called though.. or better yet still buy them 😂

No, I don't remember puff pastry crackers...and I'm sure I would, if I'd eaten them.

Still don't know what I'm going to have for dinner. Sometimes it becomes too much of a problem and I don't have anything...which leaves me having to take all my evening tablets last thing at night with no food.

Do you have milk in your coffee, @Escaped_Goat ? Or just pure black 5-strength coffee?

@NatureLover You need to go stare in the fridge.

Morning coffees are black. Afternoon coffees at home I have with plant milk if at home... regular milk elsewhere because I like a cappuccino in the afternoon but nowhere uses the plant milks I like. I don't want to be "that customer". 😂

Good morning, @Escaped_Goat ...raining hard here so I stayed in bed longer then usual. Not very logical really, when I come to think of it. I think it will be a 2-coffee morning this morning. I have soy milk in mine...actually I prefer oat milk in it, but it takes so long for me to use a whole litre carton of oat milk in hot drinks, whereas if I open a carton of soy milk I can use it in cooking and for cereal as well. That's interesting you add plant milk in the afternoons! I suppose you are well caffeinated by then, lol...

I ended up having toast for dinner last night, but at least I had something.

How are you feeling this morning? I expect you have rain there too...

@NatureLover You think you stayed in bed a long time this morning... I'm the queen of staying in bed today! I have only just got up and am standing by the coffee maker waiting for my first cup! In my robe and slippers!

It rained last night and expecting more today. Blew a gale too and still windy... I almost expected to see roof in the yard but it appears to be intact... the neighbors old daggy shed not mine 😂

I like oat milk in everything... coffee.. cereal especially porridge.. cooking. The other I like is the coconut almond milk. Not a big soy milk fan in anything I can taste it 😂 I will use it in baking if I've been asked to make a vegan cake and they haven't specified a milk.

I am feeling pretty good this morning... yep... it's still morning 😂 How are you?

Wow, you're feeling good even before your coffees! 🙂 @Escaped_Goat

Yes, oat milk is great in hot drinks; I need to try it again on cereal as I haven't done that for a few years.

I don't feel too bad this morning considering it's so gloomy. Have been doing housework, yay!

@NatureLover I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing today. I know I need to take the trash out to the wheelie bin.

I know it's cold here but I have energy to use but it looks like rain so somehow I need to make all of that work for me 😂

Edited to let you know I had chocolate cake for breakfast because I'm an adult and nobody can tell me I can't!

Haha, this made me laugh! @Escaped_Goat

I went back yesterday and saw your pic of the plant-based chocolate cake - it looked good.

I can't think what to have for lunch - I need a new food obsession.

I'm just pottering round the house doing whatever strikes my fancy in the way of housecleaning and tidying - I figure it's all good.

Good luck working out how to use your precious energy when it's raining...
