Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I'm happy with my array of coffee makers... unfancy ones.

I'm glad you're having a low pressure day.

I'm on coffee number two and baking a croissant in my new larger toaster oven. They had frozen croissants on special $2 a packet of 6... how could I say no?

$2 for 6 croissants is excellent. I like croissants with cheese and tomato in them. Hmm, now I am wanting some croissants...

I also wanted to say I was impressed that you were supporting a suicidal person in the middle of the night last night. I couldn't have done that.

What does your day hold, @Escaped_Goat ? Or will you play it by ear?

@NatureLover I don't know why I was on the forums in the middle of the night.. weird urge.

I have a strict rule about no electronics once I decide to go to sleep... the whole blue light thing. I hope he's okay...

I am just going with the flow today... I have a bit of housework but it will still be there tomorrow if I don't feel like doing it today.

You did well. I hope he's OK, too.

I'm having Welsh rarebit for lunch...I haven't had it for over 20 years I reckon. I'd forgotten how rich it was...it really packs a punch. Of course, I've added plenty of cracked pepper. And then fruit for after, as there's not much nutrition in Welsh rarebit.

Going with the flow sounds good...that's sort of what I'm doing too. I forgot to actually ask how you are feeling today? I hope better then yesterday...

@NatureLover I'm doing okay today. Just got back from having coffee at my son's... I bought a nice cake marked down from Woolworths and it was yummy! Still plenty left too. It was $6 down from $8... but still a couple of days on it.

It turned grey, cold and rainy here. I'm doing the laundry now which takes zero effort 😂

I'm glad you're OK today @Escaped_Goat .

$6 is good for a cake...your picture hasn't come through yet but I will check back.

I agree - I like doing the laundry as the machines do the work for you.

The "grey, cold and rainy" is coming here after visiting you. Guess not much walking for us for the next few days. How is your knee today? Still swollen?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@NatureLover My knee is not still swollen but I think I need to alternate hills with flat walks in future. I just get carried away with exercise because I'm determined to be able to keep up with the grandkids and I would really like to be around to see them grow up. My mother was a sedentary meat eater and had multiple strokes and heart attacks and I'm determined not to follow in her footsteps. The occasional slice of cake is probably okay though... right? It has one star.. that's better than none! 😁 😂

I do eat reasonably healthy.. lately I've been a bit of a sweet tooth but I put that down to mood. My mood is improving though so my food choices will too. 😂

From what I know of you, there's not much chance of you being a sedentary meat eater 😄 However I do think the occasional slice of cake is fine.

Alternating flat and hilly walks sounds sensible. A bit disappointing, though, for you?

It makes me happy to hear that your mood is improving, @Escaped_Goat 🙂

I'm lying down after another walk. I've got a good novel but am not reading it yet.

@NatureLover I do like to challenge myself on walks but I can't stand being benched either so I need to be sensible.

Now that my mood is improving I think I need to develop a good routine for myself again... I always do better with a routine. Knowing that I'm going to do certain things helps me... I guess because I worked most of my life it feels unnatural to not have something set to do and just free time all day long.

Yes, doing less so you can still exercise 👍

I understand about routine helping. Do you make yourself a written daily or weekly schedule? I have a written daily schedule up on the back of the door, which I only roughly keep to. Mainly just morning routine and evening routine, with the daytime being no routine at all.
