Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

So pleased something went well for you! (The osteopath)

How was your exercise physiologist today? I hope it went better than you expected.

My psychologist appt was good thanks. She said I could assert my needs more (for my neighbours not to touch my things or use all of my backyard).

I'm late on the forums today as the tree cutters arrived at 7.30 this morning and we all had to move our cars. It's been a very noisy day. I had to drive around the corner for my Telehealth appt with the psychologist. (I didn't want to drive the hire car in the suburbs.) The dangerous tree is down now.

Now we've lost power. I had been doing some extra work (a big project at work).

I hope you feel a bit stronger today 🫂

Oh dear re power outage. You'll miss the tree in summer I guess. Yes chainsaws are verrry noisy.

The ex physiologist was helpful but I feel bad that he'd misjudged the appt length, when he should have been elsewhere, as he'd expected me to be noncompliant and therefore out the door very quickly with a warning to do better.

The gp clinic also rang and made me feel unwelcome by doublechecking on my Wednesday booking, with long pauses after I answered their questions. I'll have to be careful I'm not overthinking things.

Hi @Dimity , yes, we'll miss that big tree in summer. The garden is already much brighter.

The power came back on around 7pm last night.

How do you know that's what the exercise physiologist expected? That seems to be his fault, that he misjudged the appt length.

A work day today, very busy.

I hope you feel a bit brighter today 🤞❤️

Hi @NatureLover

I know because he told me so! I'd gone 12 weeks between appointments instead of 6 so he assumed I hadn't been doing the work.

Hope your day goes well. I'm off to exercise group.

@NatureLover it must be awkward not having a private yard. Ours used to be open but we got dividing fences. Mine is the odd one out as it's not secure - I only have a carport. Negotiating with your neighbours might not be easy with the shared shed. Do you have a residents' group where you can float your preferences?

Hi @Dimity , our yards are all open but previously everyone respected each others' space and didn't go in them.

Thankfully no residents group, and it's just one neighbour I have to talk to.

That's a bit rude of your exercise physiologist!

How did your exercise group go yesterday?

I'm getting my car back today. I'll be anxious till I can return it safely - it's a 15 minute drive. I need to wash and vacuum it before returning it.

Hope your day goes well 🤞

Hope your car is back safe.and sound @NatureLover .

Exercise group was ok yesterday thanks. Still working on the social side of it.

Feeling upset by today's medical appt and the failure of my efforts with diet and exercise. And ignoring the elephant in the room, my mental health (the gp didn't mention a social support provider she'd offered to look into). Spent hours getting first to gp then pathology provider. Meanwhile I'm way behind on chores and decluttering, gardening and everything else. I'm exhausted. Thinking again about a support worker but it all seems too hard, and I should just get on with things myself. I'm put to shame by the people I know. Thankyou for understanding that "jusf getting on with it" isn't easy.

I'll try again with photos of the native frangipani tree @NatureLover

Wow! Blown away by your frangipani tree, @Dimity ! it's magnificent! Thank you for trying again to post it 🙂

I'm glad your exercise group was OK on Tuesday.

I'm sorry to hear your appt yesterday was so demoralising. 😣

There's no shame in needing help. Everyone needs help with something in their life - no-one's perfect and no-one's Superman. Can you follow up with the GP about the social support provider?

Yes, returned the hire car safely and picked up my own car. Greatly relieved.

I had some very bad news yesterday - the landlords don't want to renew my lease. That means they're thinking of selling. Also that I'm now on a very insecure month-by-month lease. 😭 Very anxious about homelessness.

Today I need to do errands. The house is looking pretty bad. I did a big shop yesterday after getting my car back.

I hope you feel brighter today.

Glad your car is back @NatureLover .

That's very troubling news about your lease. Are you going to start looking for another place? With a monthly tenancy you'd be free to leave as soon as you needed. I hear the rental market is very tight, so your fears are understandable. Hopefully it won't come to an eviction.

Today I got back to some chores but there's a long way to go before I catch up. I'm still nqr but trying.
