Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello @NatureLover sorry to reply late, you probably won't see this til tomorrow.

You may feel exhausted but 10 hours this weekend is a wonderful achievement.

It stayed dry while i picked up my meds. Then I had a pleasant and satisfying hour changing the spacing of a shelf in a bookshelf and refilling the shelves. Now books and folders stand upright and accessible, and I feel the urge to read. (I've been slowly finishing a selfhelp book on fixing both weight and clutter... useful but hardly enjoyable.) I'll try for my third hour of tidying this evening.

Do you feel strong enough for cleaning tomorrow? I hope you can achieve what you need, not necessarily aiming for perfection... I'd like to see if I can complete the trifecta too. I've done a lot more this weekend with your help and encouragement.

Yay third hour. I have a seat on the sofa and a space at the kitchen table.

Roll on tomorrow. Good luck! You can do it.

Aww, I'm glad that it sounds like I've helped you as much as you've helped me this weekend, @Dimity ! 🙂

3 hours, well done 👏 And sorting your bookshelf! Very satisfying.

I'm glad you stayed dry on your walk.

I woke up at 5 raring to go, but I know my habits, and that it's best to keep to a routine if possible or I'll fall back asleep at 7am and stuff my day up! So I've brought a coffee back to bed (my normal routine) and I'll spend some time on social media.

Today I have a LOT of cleaning to do. The bedroom and the lounge-room are done (apart from washing the windows, which I'm not going to even attempt). But I have all the kitchen to do, plus all the bathroom apart from the toilet which I did yesterday. I need to mop the kitchen and bathroom floors as well.

Scrubbing the shower is the hardest. 😣

It does feel nice having clean floors and an empty long kitchen bench. I wish I could keep it like that.

It sounds like you're free to work with me again today? That would be so good 🤞

Thanks for your encouragement. Good luck to us today...

Oh dear @Dimity ! I felt myself falling asleep at 6.40 this morning, so I got up and got busy. That was good. I've done 2 hours and 20 minutes of ...... pottering around not doing the kitchen or the bathroom!! That's not good! I'm already tired and wanting a rest before starting 😣

Just checking in to see if you'd posted @Dimity ...I hope you're feeling OK today.

I've just finished the washing-up - just the stovetop to do on the kitchen now.

Hello my friend the earlybird

I slept late and have been doing morning things, and trying unsuccessfully to find some financial documents. Apparently the data never transferred from my old tablet.

Well done on making a start.

I'll join you in trying to scrub the shower. I'm quailing at having another go at my papers but will try to do some of that as well.

Oh gosh @Dimity - give me papers any day over scrubbing the shower!!

That's so encouraging you will scrub yours too, thank you ❤️ I'm pretty sore so I'm dreading it even more than usual.

And oh no that vital financial information didn't transfer from your old tablet 😢

Good luck with your shower and your papers...

Spent over an hour cleaning the bathroom. Tried a new way of attacking the shower, which seemed to work well. Two more hours to go.

Hope the end is in sight for you @NatureLover . Still lots more to do for me, especially since I should squeeze in my exercises and walk.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Well done on your hour cleaning the bathroom! That really helped me, knowing you were doing yours too - thank you ❤️

I just finished scrubbing the shower. I spent extra effort on it as usually I have to have a shower on the morning of the inspection to fix any spots I missed. Seeing as I always leave the shower to last or almost last!

Now all I have to do is the kitchen floor and the bathroom floor. The bathroom floor is already wet so I might do that now. It's nearly 4pm so I might leave the kitchen floor till tomorrow morning? Not sure.

It's not raining here - I hope you can stay dry on your walk. And that you're successful in whatever you set yourself 🤞

Did it all. Very sore and tired.

Will just have to see tomorrow morning if I've missed any spots in the shower.

Going to crawl to bed.

Good luck with your efforts tonight.
