Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I frequently forget to eat. I'm strange like that.

Yay for a line of bingo! I was looking at the squares and I'm not sure I can get a bingo but that's okay.

I'm glad it wasn't too hard going out this morning. It's good that you are taking charge of when you'll feel comfortable to meet your friends... friends understand!

Yes.. story shots are audio summaries of books... I've been rambling about them to everyone this week.. sorry if I missed you... but I'm glad you knew what I was on about. I'm more than willing to ramble about the app though if you'd like... 😂. Its my latest craze and definitely much better for me than a lot of previous crazes.

Ramble away about the app, @Escaped_Goat ...it sounds interesting.

Forgetting to eat does sound very strange to me 🙂

I'm not sure I can get a line of Bingo either, when I look at my desk! Eeek.

Double posting to say that tidying my desk was r e a l l y hard to do. It took ages just to start, and then was daunting. But now I have one pile of neat papers instead of messy papers all over the desk and having to scrabble to find what I wanted among them. It was also daunting as most of those pieces of paper were telling me I needed to do something. I did do a couple of things from my notes that I found, but that's all I can cope with today. But the desk is neat, wiped down and orderly. Such a good feeling. Definitely don't feel I can do any other chores today though, apart from unloading the wet laundry and putting some of it in the dryer.

I think I might have Shredded Wheat for dinner. There was no rice syrup in the shop either this morning, but I've still got a little bit left to have with it.

How has your afternoon gone, @Escaped_Goat ?

That sounds like you have achieved a LOT! I mean that because sorting papers can be very hard... finding things you should have dealt with... the whole mystery note section that must have been important when you jotted it down but there's no context so you don't know what do do with it... or is that just me?

I came screeching to a halt about an hour ago... I was doing okay taking some notes down that I wanted to remember from stuff I've listened to and then a random thought hit me and I can't seem to get restarted.

You should be super happy with your day though @NatureLover

Aww, thank you for your encouragement, @Escaped_Goat !

I do generally make sure I date each piece of paper and put a description...like on notes from a call to my mobile phone provider, I'll put their name and the date and what I called about. It's because I'm used to having to go back through old piles of paper (sorted into each year's pile) looking for old notes. But it also means I end up with a lot of little pieces of paper at the end of each year...I haven't thought of a solution to that yet. Maybe scanning each piece of paper and uploading them to my computer? That would work...it would take a while though.

Sorry you came to a screeching halt! What are you planning to have for dinner...anything? Or nothing? 😄

@NatureLover I had leftovers but I wasn't hungry hungry it was more eating my feelings... if there was chocolate there wouldn't be now 😂 which is why I don't buy anything unhealthy to keep handy...

I'm mentally scanning the pantry, fridge and freezer as I type wondering what else I can eat despite my stomach feeling full of leftover potato mash and mushroom ragout. "Sigh"

I keep nothing in the way of paper now. Never have I needed anything I used to think was important. I have a small box with actual important papers in. I use a paper diary planner and write notes in that where applicable and then dispose of it at the end of the year. It took a very long time to get to this stage though.

No papers except a yearly planner? 😮 Disposing of it at the end of the year? 😮 Wow - respect!

Potato mash and mushroom ragout sound delicious. Did you find anything else to snack on? Lol 😄

It's funny, I've always been a savoury person, but when I went vegan I developed a slight sweet tooth. Never a chocoholic - I can take or leave chocolate. But I couldn't have my usual savoury choices so I was looking for other tastes that I could have. It stayed with me when I went back to vegetarian.

I'm cold so after dinner am going to go and lie down on the bed but under the top blanket. Bit dangerous for falling asleep like that...but it saves using the heater.

I hope your night is a good one @Escaped_Goat .

Good morning @NatureLover I hope your night was good. Mine was pretty good. Have not been up long.. was quite content to stay under the pile of blankets in the warmth this morning but uhhh... nature called 😏 for me and Poppy. 😂 So it's coffee o'clock here.

The sun is shining but there was frost again last night 🥶 Might skip the walk today... my knee is not saying "thank you for the lovely walk yesterday". I will see how it goes.. it always feels worse in the morning after it hasn't moved for hours so obviously moving is good but it's a little swollen so I don't want to push it and be laid up for days. Might be a short flat surface walk if I do go.

Apart from that I'm going to try to relax and not do anything more than the absolute necessary in the way of chores. I've decided that I'm putting too much pressure on myself to be "doing" seven days a week. Leisure activities only today!

How are you feeling and do you have any plans for your day?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

I'm glad you're taking today as a leisure and self care day, @Escaped_Goat . A swollen knee doesn't sound good. 😞

Glad your night was good too, yay. Mine was OK too although I did fall asleep fully clothed...hmmm.

I'm feeling OK...it's the last sunny day here today for a while, so I want to take advantage of the sun and be outside a lot. I also want to do the washing up and put away the laundry from yesterday. Other than that I'm not putting too much pressure on myself for today.

Hi again, double posting to say I've done the washing up and put all the laundry away and am thinking about maybe doing more chores! Hehe - it's the sunshine motivating me. But a walk first, a long one I think...

Hope you are enjoying a relaxed day, @Escaped_Goat ...
