Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I'm not sure I can run at all but if I brace my weak knee I'd like to give it a go. I can walk that far at a fairly good pace. My surgeon cleared me for all activities. She was impressed with my recovery.. she said this is how recovery is supposed to go but rarely does. She said people very rarely follow the instructions as closely as I did. Thinking back.. I wish I'd slept more but I was so wired because of the drugs I had no choice in the matter.

I'm drinking coffee and wishing it didn't go from "that sun is nice on the window" to "I need my jumper and socks" in 2.5 seconds flat.

I need to see if I've done any squares today... none intentionally but maybe I did one anyway. 😂

Oh gosh, it sounds a bit worrying starting off running 7km...please be careful, @Escaped_Goat . Congratulations on a textbook recovery though 🙂

You're right about the cold setting in quickly. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed this evening so will leave my Bingo board report till tomorrow. You did heaps of Bingo squares yesterday anyway...

I'm also going to skip my evening walk...don't feel up to it. I've had 2 walks today already. It will definitely be an early night tonight. Hope you can sleep well 🙂

@NatureLover I won't do anything silly with the running.

i checked.. I did no bingo squares yesterday. That leaves only today to try to get a bingo... it's been fun though and a good way to remember to look after ourselves.

i slept pretty well but I'm really cold this morning... I had every intention of getting out early for a walk but I'm still hiding under the blankets waiting for the heater to warm the room up. It's not quite winter yet! Oh no!

Good morning, @Escaped_Goat ! Are you still under the blankets, and do you have a coffee in bed? Or do you wait till you get up?

Yes, the Bingo has been fun...I fully intend to get a line completed today!

I went out early to the shops...there's still no wholemeal flour or Stir-Thru sauce on the shelves, but I got everything else I wanted, including some frozen cocktail spring rolls that I might have today, done in the oven, with sweet chilli sauce. Now I'm going to catch up on the forums with a second (de-caf) coffee.

Hopefully when you get up the day looks promising for you. We have sun today and tomorrow, then the rain sets in after that.

@NatureLover Good morning! I'm up now.. dressed and drinking proper coffee! 😂

Won't be walking this morning.. my mind and body say yes.. my knee says you've got to be kidding! Later once it's loosened up.

I don't have coffee in bed because if I have to get up and make it I figure I might as well start my day.

It looks sunny out so hoping it stays that way.

Our stores here have been back to normal stocks for a few weeks now so that's been nice.

Haha, none of this instant de-caf for you!

I agree about getting up and having the coffee then...breakfast and coffee for me is like a temptation to brave the cold and get up.

Is your knee worse in the cold weather?

Glad your stores have been fully stocked lately. @Escaped_Goat

I need to do the washing up today, so that will be my first task after going for my walk. Nice and easy.

@NatureLover I guess it's easier to stock smaller stores. It's certainly been good seeing things back to normal in the shops. I'm not feeling too excited about the new increased numbers in cafes etc but I don't go out so it will only impact me if we start seeing more sick people. We broke our 19 day no cases streak here in SA when a woman who had returned from overseas and had been self isolating in Victoria decided to fly home to SA and tested positive at the airport here... fun and games for all the other passengers and crew. Dumbass! 😡

I think I pushed my knee too hard yesterday trying to beat my record. It will come good... I have some arthritis in it after damaging it 10 years ago and 3 failed surgeries and having the medial meniscus finally removed and being told that when I'm crippled enough I can have a knee replacement! I'd rather have a shiny new knee now and avoid potential back and hip problems later that might be generated by my limping walk but I guess doctors know best... :face_with_rolling_eyes:

I can't really complain.. I have enough stubbornness in me to push through all sorts of pain to stay mobile rather than sit around waiting to seize up! 😂

I have also been told I can't have a knee replacement till I'm much older, as apparently you can only ever have one, not like hips. But it's good that you're so determined to exercise despite the arthritis in your knee.

19 days with no new cases is excellent I reckon....more than Victoria has had.

I'm going to do a post soon on the Bingo thread...

@NatureLover I was told you can have up to 3 knee replacements but each one lasts less time than the previous. I have a bad habit of saying what I should just think and told the surgeon someone should be working on that because technology keeps improving so what's really going on here...

I forgot breakfast... listened to a great story shot about the old stoic philosophers and achieving tranquility. Now I'm eating celery and hummus.

Celery and hummus is nice...celery and peanut butter is even better. 🙂 I don't know how you can forget breakfast!

I've decided to tidy up the messy piles of papers on my desk to "organise a corner of my life"...then I'll have a line of Bingo. I'll do it after lunch....it's a bit daunting.

That's good news that you can actually have more than one knee replacement.

I meant to tell you that it wasn't too hard leaving the house this morning. But admittedly it was only going 2 minutes' drive to the local supermarket, which is my easiest trip out.

I also rearranged meeting my friend till next week, and am going to put off meeting 2 other friends as they both work on the front line... Baby steps. I'm hoping they won't be too offended.

I've heard of those story shots...isn't it an audio summary of a book? @Escaped_Goat
