Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello @NatureLover @Shaz51 thanks, I made an effort to sound "normal" although I'm not proud of harping on my horrible hoarding.

Tomorrow I'll meet my new great nephew. I hope my depression won't be too obvious. I've not mentioned it to family.

@Dimity This thread is exactly the place where we can harp on our horrible hoarding! 🙂

I had success with my errands yesterday - all except getting the 6-week iron blood test. But I'm waiting for a penicillin (immunology) blood test request in the mail, so can do them both at the same time. Apparently the penicillin blood test I took at the hospital got mucked up.

I need to do a little work for my volunteer job today to prepare for a busy week ahead. I also need to prepare my Notes for my psychologist appt tomorrow.

I hope today goes well for you, meeting your grand nephew and hiding your depression 🤞 Also sending wishes your deression eases 🤞

I see my psychologist tomorrow too @NatureLover . And I've been putting off doing fasting bloods. It's a nuisance for you having to redo the penicillin one.

I'm glad to have seen some of the family today.

I emptied another box yesterday, but didn't dispose of all the contents, just some. Typical. But some is better than nothing.

Sony to hear your solution to not working weekends is to work on the weekend! But if you're happier doing it that's important. I hope today's preparation makes the week's work easier for you.

Oh, good luck with your psychologist today, @Dimity . Will it be EMDR?

It turns out mine will have to be Telehealth as I've caught a cold. Am dreading a possible 4 months of asthmatic coughing, isolation and depression 😣

It sounds like it went OK seeing your family yesterday?

Well done for emptying the box.

Yes, am happier doing a little bit of work. More today.

Very cold this morning (2C).

Thinking of you today with your possible EMDR 🫂

Oh no @NatureLover I hope you don't get a cold and asthma again.

No EMDR today. I badly derailed the psych session and have been worrying about it ever since.

I guess the family event went well in parts. Other parts? Bruising.

It's cold...

Thanks, @Dimity .

I'm sorry your psychologist apt left you anxious 😥

Also that your family always seems to leave you hurting. 😥

A busy work day today but I have to pop out beforehand.

I hope your social group goes well today - I've lost track of which one it is today.

it was craft today @NatureLover .

A very busy day, including an unexpected visitor at home. You can imagine my embarrassment and shame. I hadn't had any visitors for ummm.... months? (Not counting home help and the one-off vet visit). A lot happened today, I was quite rattled. And still unsettled from the last couple of days.

How is your cold?

Oh no re your unexpected visitor at home, @Dimity ! That's the worst! 😥

And I wonder how your craft group went, as you said a lot happened yesterday and you were rattled?

I am sniffly and have started coughing. I dread the cough lasting months and isolating me again.

Did I tell you my nice GP has suddenly left the clinic? I had to choose a new GP suddenly and lock them in for My Medicare. I felt rushed - I wanted to try out 3 new GPs from the clinic. My health is very complex and I need to know how a new GP will be with mental health.

I hope you can have a nice steady day today, and get rid of the rattled feeling.

Hopefully the change in asthma meds will protect you a bit @NatureLover .

I think I would have held off from nominating the gp immediately. But I think the MyMedicare thing might apply to the other gps at the practice not just the one you name, to cover when they're not available. It's a bit upsetting to lose someone you trust.

I'm putting off going back to my gp as she hasn't followed through with referrals she'd promised to forward me. I don't know why she'd write up a care plan I can't follow up.

I was rattled by a succession of things yesterday, mostly minor I guess but upsetting.

Craft is a bit of a trial but is a chance to see other people.

Stay warm.
