Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

It's minuscule but I dealt with 8 items of clutter. Years ago that's how a psychologist suggested I start... to eat the elephant one bite at a time

Well done on dealing with 8 items of clutter, @Dimity . 👏

Also for cooking a good meal.

I'm depressed. Been in bed for days. Today is the 9th day without a shower.

My two aims today are to have a shower and to go out for groceries. Both seem too difficult right now.

That SAD can be difficult to shift @NatureLover . Sorry to hear you're so depressed. My own mood hasn't shifted off the bottom score for days.

Could crumpets with peanut butter and honey tempt you to go out? Can you have things like honey and berry jam with your diabetes?

I've been sleeping late a lot and showering late but I enjoy a hot shower (warmth helps my aches and pains and I hate feeling sticky and itchy).

I'm glad you could sit in the sun the other day. Maybe Dr. Dimity could prescribe more of the same.

Sending you a cheerio @NatureLover . Hope you're ticking off those two goals. I had news this morning of a new great nephew which is nice. I've washed up and will venture outside.

Thanks @Dimity . I forced myself to go out for groceries, but didn't have a shower. I went back to bed. I have to have a shower this morning as I'm due to go out to a psychologist appt. Unless I change it to Telehealth at the last minute. I'm still in bed.

Yes, I eat sugar.

Sorry you are very low also.

I hope the psychologist helped @NatureLover .

Hi @Dimity , what did you decide to do about your craft group?

And is today your exercise group? I hope it goes well.

I managed to not change my psychologist appt to Telehealth yesterday. I got up, had a shower after 10 days, and went to the appt. It did me good.

You mentioned getting itchy if you don't have a shower...I get itchy if I do have a shower.

Today is a work day so I will be getting up.

The state of the house is a fright.

I hope you aren't too depressed to go to your exercise group.

Hi @NatureLover . Good on you for honouring your psychologist appt.

I've been up since 4.15am, when I woke from another nightmare. I was badly upset by my psychiatrist Friday and I've been worrying about it.

Craft today. One of the warring factions was quite critical of the other, who seemed largely oblivious. I stayed out of it. I think the group will splinter.

I've been forgetting my back exercises and my headache keeps returning. So lots of aches and pains. And chronic tiredness.

I've been looking at boxes and finding papers relating to bad family dramas. I think I've sort of winnowed them over the years, being able to mentally process and cull some but leaving others for another time.

It does feel hopeless a lot of the time.

Did you have enough work to keep yourself occupied today?

Up since 4.15am is not good, especially with your circadian rhythm, @Dimity . Did this mean you slept better last night? I hope so.

And I'm sorry your psychiatrist upset you 😥

Will you stay in the craft group if it splinters?

I had plenty of work yesterday, which is good. I'm going to try not to check for work on my days off, and see how that goes. I would actually prefer to work a bit every day, but it means I run out of work and then get depressed.

Dog walking today with a friend. The house is a fright so need to tidy up.

I'm enjoying the warmer weather.

Good luck to us both today with tidying and chores / decluttering.

I don't know what the group organisers might do @NatureLover but there've probably been complaints.

I was back to sleeping through the alarm this morning.

Could you ask your boss for more work?? Or go for more dog walks? To me it's a good sign that you're wanting to do more.

I'm tired of feeling nqr and getting very little done. My house and garden are a fright too. And I can't get over my shock and hurt from treatment I've received from family and doctors and don't know where it came from. I know it must be my fault but I don't know what I've done wrong or how to fix it. I'm ashamed of it all.
