Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I need to get houseworky too, but too much going on, see how I go on the weekend, sorry for the long threads yesterday, but I was outside & overwhelmed. To top it all off, as I was shutting the windows 12am last night two boys 19yo?? Walked past my street walking into my neighbour’s driveway looking in their cars for something to steal, I stuck my head out of the window with my n95 mask on, white and bright and they saw me and they scattered off 😂🤣

When I was overseas, I visited a slum as part of a tour. One thing that struck me was that the people, from early adult-hood, work extremely hard there. Despite the poverty, the below living standards, the number of peoplr packed into each and every nook and cranny, they ALL live in harmony. There is no evidence of crime against each other.

@scruffypuffball , does it mean our young people don't have enough to do? I makes me wonder.

Anyway, good to see you all @scruffypuffball @NatureLover @Appleblossom @Dimity @Shaz51

Hello @tyme , @NatureLover , @scruffypuffball , @Appleblossom , @Dimity

In town here, people get together at the local park with loud music for hours on the weekends

@tyme I used to volunteer at neighbourhood watch, police said youth crime was about pushing boundaries and fitting in. Once they got caught most of them never did it again. I remember that happening at school too. Humans imitate each other

Absolutely about fitting in @scruffypuffball . It's interesting about the point that they never do it again. That's good to know!

@NatureLover perhaps the landlord is still lining up tradies - they might be very busy right now after the holiday shutdown.

Poor you. Between cabin fever and agoraphobia.

Thanks, yes I've been very tired this week.

Hmm I'm far from houseworky at present @Appleblossom @scruffypuffball . Doing what I need to do to get by.

@tyme @Shaz51 I've read that a high proportion of crimes are committed by a very small number of repeat offenders. I sometimes wonder if better investment in family and youth services would help.

Thanks, @Dimity . I made it to the library to work yesterday. I didn't cough too much while there, thankfully.

I don't think the landlord is lining up tradies, but you never know. I've been keeping the house neat, but still haven't scrubbed the shower.

Are you feeling any stronger after your surgery? I hope you're getting enough sleep at night.

I've got a lunch on today.

Hope your day goes well.
