Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Oh @scruffypuffball , you are getting a verandah fixed too! Just like @NatureLover .

I don't have a verandah so I'm not getting that fixed 🙂

I'm sorry that not only the actual reno is frustrating, but the fact that your mental health has been challenged because of the need to mask. That is EXHAUSTING! I hear you. Having tradies is NOT my fav thing to do. I had someone come through yesterday to get my ducted cooler replaced with 6 split system units. It was cheaper than I expected! I got one replaced last year and it was nearly $5k, but to install 6 here, it's only $12k.... I guess it was more urgent after having a 45 degree day!

So is your verandah finished now?

Yes, all finished, but I saw they cracked 2 windows, I saw another two windows cracked but not sure if the cracks were there or new. Waiting for another Tradie for that now. It is an old house so it’s to be expected but the new ones, those windows were in better condition💁‍♀️

The support button isn't working...

Sorry to hear about your continuing asthma @NatureLover . And your suffering with dust and paint fumes @scruffypuffball . Hope all your repairs are over soon and worthwhile.

I can understand your associations with the old house @scruffypuffball . I feel a wrench when I've seen photos of houses my folks used to live in. It would be much more for you as you've continued to live there. But you need to be safe and comfortable and your parents would have needed the updates themselves, so in a way it's honouring them.

I need to renovate too @Appleblossom but at the rate I'm going it won't get done. It's hard even clearing the decks for minor maintenance.

Hello @tyme @Shaz51 .

You don't say! My support button has turned into different symbols lol!

I've escalated this already and speaking to tech as we speak. I've provided them with all the info they need to hopefully they can expediate it! Soooo frustrating!

And I guess it's always working...until it's not. @Dimity

Hope you are well otherwise @Dimity

The tradie came turns out only one window needs replacing, the other was a scratch not a crack so it won’t get worse. The other one he said keep an eye on it, I can replace it if it gets worse. The guy kept losing his voice and clearing his throat & he came inside briefly & I was like oh crap, it’s late, oh well, all the windows are open anyway, got two air purifiers out and two fans pointing at a window and one box fan at the door, need to flush out the “contaminated” air, seriously this is how I live. So I won’t be going back inside the house for another 2-3 hrs, so I am sitting in my neighbours front yard, writing this with my cat at my feet. My neighbours don’t mind I sit on their property like this, a guy just walked past and is going thru the bins collecting recyclable waste. My other neighbours have fold up chairs & they r socialising on the footpath at the end of their driveway. I am still masked ppl probably think I am eccentric, but I am grateful for precautions that’s all. it is exhausting tho. Look at the aus open, everyone’s sick. Woops I felt some drops better go inside

ok I am back, I haven’t had dinner, I cooked a couple of things this week, so I can take that to my car and eat there😂. My neighbours r still outside talking. That is so cool. Covid & abusive family/friends means I am so alone, I miss getting together & talking, goofing around. I met with covid aware people on zoom today for the first time, they were saying the same things as me. It was nice to vent & people understand. They r in America, they have added issues as well which I won’t mention🙁. I think it’s safe to say we are all overwhelmed and it’s perfectly normal considering everything.

I guess flushing out my indoor air is also flushing out the paint fumes, two birds one stone etc, only on one side of the house I busted my chop taping up the windows with plastic so the debris doesn’t go everywhere, it worked a treat and I don’t want to remove it as it was a lot of work, so I can’t open those windows, so the air purifiers go in there now. Of course the fly screens were removed so the mossies will feast so I am sitting in the dark to deter that bs! Thank you very much. So many fans going, it’s like a cyclone in here. Speaking of busted, I went to close the windows from outside the other day & had a small ladder the carpenter was using, it was 44c so I was walking & rolled my left ankle, & twisted my right knee while holding the 8 kg or so ladder. A bruise appeared so acl joint bleed from strain, I landed as gently as I could. Went to the doc & he said it’s not too bad. He gave me antibiotics but the side effects freaked me out I didn’t take them. I haven’t been resting it like I should, there is a lot of lifting and working, especially opening and shutting old windows newly painted, they get stuck a lot, but I try to not push it too much, today I asked the painters to do that for me & they did👍

geez I haven’t posted this much in a while, I am on leave that is why yay. I get to hang out with @NatureLover @Dimity @tyme @Appleblossom @Shaz51

my neighbours r still sitting on chairs talking on the footpath I’m in Melbs it’s getting a bit chilly but go them!

The,support button is working again.

Gosh what a day for you @scruffypuffball .Hopefully the house is well aired so you can sleep comfortably without fear of the tradie's virus.

Odd you had antibiotics for a twisted knee?

Take care, hope your week improves.

Hi @Dimity , the landlord hasn't visited and no news of a contractor visiting to assess / fix the verandah / house roof. Maybe it won't get done.

I'm going batty at home so am planning to go and work in the library today. I'll see how my asthma coughing goes.

You've had a busy week, while still recovering from your surgery. I hope you're getting enough rest.

Sending care.
