Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I am really glad you took the slum conversation in the direction you did. @tyme Thank you

I am not houseworky today. Must be on strike!

Yep, it can be about fitting in or getting beaten up. But there are a lot of good people living in poverty.

I'm glad you had a change of scene @NatureLover and your cough abated . Well done on keeping the place neat.

My biopsies probably don't count as surgery. I'm still very tired but it's partly psychological. The build up with legal preparations then the dreaded procedure took a toll. And family hostilities have resumed.

My nice neighbours are moving out tomorrow, evicted so the difficult garden-hating owners can move back. They'll come back to new shrubs the nice people planted!

The support button isn't working @Appleblossom @tyme @Shaz51 @scruffypuffball . You need to be careful challenging prowlers.

Hmm housework and decluttering. I guess I have a mental block. I do the minimum. But tackling the stuff within reach feels like it risks destabilising the looming mountain overhead. I admit I have a problem with it all and would like support but support doesn't grow on trees. I need to invest time and effort and money, and work out what I can tolerate with retraumatising.

Sorry you are losing nice neighours @Dimity and things are building up re family.

I did have a good day, but I also spoke about difficult things. Learning to speak more freely. We will see how it unfolds.

hey @NatureLover @Shaz51 @scruffypuffball

in some ways to feels a relief just to be me and not always needing to be a professional or mother with various duties of care.

Hey @Dimity ,

Yeah, the tech people are looking into it. We have provided them all the info they need so the are just testing out a few potential solutions. Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon! I know how frustrating it can be!

As for decluttering, I"m not expert. But doing just a little section of the hous/room, help?

Hope you are okay post-op.

Thinking of you.

Hey @NatureLover @Appleblossom @scruffypuffball

@NatureLover hope you enjoyed the cooler day. I did.

We didn't seem to get around to dealing with any boxes in January despite hopes last year.

Oh well.

Hi @Dimity , the support button seems to be working again.

No, we didn't achieve any boxes in January 😣 My urgency faded after my nice neighbour changed the lock on the shed so the nasty neighbour couldn't access it.

I'm really sorry to hear that family hostilities have resumed. 😥

It's a big shame your nice neighbours have been evicted. Does that leave any nice neighbours at all? I wonder if the owners will get rid of the plants that the nice neighbours planted.

I was proud of myself yesterday as I was able to go out to dinner with only same day notice. I usually need to psych up and plan ahead to leave the house.

Hoping to go and work in the library again today. Feel tired.

I hope you don't put too much pressure on yourself while you're feeling so low. I hope you can look after yourself. 🫂❤

I'm glad your boxes are safe . And you went out at short notice - sounds brave.

I say hello to couple of other people in the street. I hardly ever catch up with tgmhe reclusive chap next door. I'm pretty isolated. My Tuesday outings provide a little respite, but ladies higher in the pecking order dominate.

I'm tired too. We've both been stretched by our last few weeks. Hope you're sleeping OK. I'm not very successful at following routines, sleep included.

Hope yourday goes well tomorrow.
