Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hey @Dimity , no worries at all. I've certainly been grumpy in my life too! We all have those moments and that's why we are human.

No stress on my side at all. Your feelings are valid and you have the right to feel the way you do.

From my side, I hear, I listen, I validate. I may not always be able to solve the problem, but just know I'm listening.

Hugs. No hard feelings from my end - not at all.

@NatureLover . I have to say, I miss you around (not saying I don't miss seeing others, but I have this need to tell you). Just want to say that I hear the struggles you are experiencing and I hear how hard it is. Know that you have us behind you, supporting you.

You mean a lot to us @Dimity @NatureLover

Thank you for your kind words, @tyme - I really appreciate them. And your support.

Yes, I think the verandah will be getting repaired. Half of it was smashed and fell down, but the SES propped it up and put some makeshift bolts in it temporarily.

Hope you're doing OK.

Hi @Dimity , thinking of you lots as you will be going into hospital this morning, early I assume. I hope that this surgery fixes whatever the serious gastrointestinal issue is.

I'm also sending wishes that your MH doesn't relapse and that you don't have any psychosis this time.

I finally managed to go out on errands yesterday after trying for 2 weeks. The furthest errand was in the next suburb, 10 minutes away, but it felt like an hour. I have to work back up to longer. I see my psychologist in 2 weeks' time, which is a 20 minute drive, so I need to be able to manage that.

Thanks for your very kind caring post - I value it ❤

Hoping all goes well with your surgery today, and hoping to hear how it went, when you feel up to it. Sending lots of care ❤

I'm managing @NatureLover . Getting back to routine after such a long break.

I hope the repairs don't inconvenience you too much. I used to hate waiting around for repairman because they were never on time!

Take care hun.

Gosh @NatureLover well done for going out. Hopefully it won't be quite as hard next time.

Hope the landlord's insurance assessment turnaround time is quick so you get the repairs done asap.

I got through the last few days better than I'd anticipated. I'm glad it's done, I did need it. Getting through it is a big relief, although I still need to wait on confirmation of results.

Perhaps I'll be able to move on with other things now.

Thanks, @Dimity .

Well done on getting through your surgery. Am so glad things went better than you expected 🙂

Thankfully the extreme heat was just one day (with one more on Tuesday, but time to recover in between). Been doing lots of watering. Trying to clear up the garden from the fallen tree branch - lots of mess.

I feel much calmer now and the house is neat. Still haven't scrubbed the shower though.

Good luck with your recovery from your surgery.

Glad things have calmed a bit @NatureLover it was pretty intense. Hope the garden wasn't smashed too badly. I can imagine there's a lot of clearing up to do.

I'm sure you'll get to the shower. You've done a great job with everything else.

I slept most of the afternoon. I guess the chores are building again.

Thanks @Dimity .

I hope you won't put too much pressure on yourself regarding your house. You need time to rest and recover from your surgery.

How is your cat after staying in the cattery?

I'm popping out this morning to return a library book that's due back, and to go to the supermarket. I could return the library book tomorrow when it's due, but I don't want to go out on an extreme heat day.

I am still coughing a bit with asthma, but I thought I might start trying to go out to the library to work once Tuesday is over.

Good luck with taking some rest if you can.
