Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I'm glad your town hardly ever loses power. We were OK yesterday too, thankfully.

Sorry the morning tea was awkward on Tuesday. That's good that they do a morning tea though - I wasn't aware they did.

I'm glad to hear you're reading 🙂

I'm scared about Friday - 42 and windy. I live in a bushfire area. Scared about possible power outages too, as my asthma is already bad (coughing has returned full force) and extreme heat turns it severe.

But yes, today is a bit of a relief. My neighbour this morning reminded me it was bin night tonight - somehow I thought it was Wednesday today. So my plans have changed to tidying the long kitchen bench so as to fill the bin today. Also I need to do a lot of shredding of work documents. And clean out the freezer for the bin too - I cleaned out the fridge the other day.

I'm going to water the garden now, and will tomorrow morning too.

I hope your day is successful...

@Dimity

I can understand your fear @NatureLover . Personally I've not been directly impacted by bushfire but have been indirectly affected several times. It was very upsetting. I hope your town stays safe tomorrow.

Hope you had success with the kitchen and shredding today. I seem stuck again and will need to start afresh when I'm able.

Hope your day wasn't awful @NatureLover .

I was gratified the magpies used my birdbath.

Just hearing thunder in the distance...

Hi @Dimity , a horrendous day yesterday. Power went out and I was scared for my asthma. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as expected and I was OK. But watching the bushfire come closer was awful. I watched it through the night too. Today have been fragile and not accomplishing anything. I was meant to go out but didn't make it. My town is safe but am concerned for friends. One is in the actual fire zone and had to evacuate. The other various 3 are nearby but safe so far. So I am still a bit in emergency mode.

I hope you survived the heat and didn't lose power yesterday. Glad the magpies used your birdbath.

Glad you're OK @NatureLover . I hope your friends are safe. Sounds awful. And the smoke will be aggravating your asthma.

I've just come in from my walk. I'm in suburbia but the smoke is noticeable. I hear well over 100 houses were lost in Victoria, and a wildlife shelter.

@Shaz51 you'll now be contending with the cyclone I guess - hope you're well prepared and clear of any possible floods. Hope your garden isn't hit too hard.

Thinking of you both - stay safe. Here for you if you need support.

Earlier they mentioned cat 2, glad it's not that @Shaz51 .

I think the heat yesterday might have killed Dad's cumquat tree. I just watered it. I'll try seaweed extract and see if that helps. We had a little bit of a thunder shower last night.so most other things look OK although there's probably some scorching. It got to 44 degrees here.

44 @Dimity ! I hope you can save your cumquat tree. I know the grass all died here on Friday.

Things feel calmer today as the fire has moved away. Not good for those more north though.

I was so discombobulated and fragile yesterday I forgot to have my 6 diabetes tablets. Haven't even been doing laundry which is usually a daily thing.

Today I have to get back to normal if I can. I need to do laundry and go out to a birthday lunch that was arranged a while ago. I'm still coughing with asthma (over 7 weeks now) so I hope it's not too bad.

I'm glad it's cool enough for you to get back to your walks. Does the smoke bother you?

I hope you will be safe @Shaz51 🤞
