Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover with the coughing, the smoke would make it worse, an N95 respirator would help plus an air purifier. stay safe♥️

I guess the rain is bucketing down @Shaz51 . Hope wind damage is minimal.

Poor you @NatureLover you must have been beside yourself. I'm glad the danger has passed for you. Hope the friend who was evacuated still has a house to go home to. The birthday lunch may be a nice distraction.

Big hugs 🫂 🫂 to both of you. Hope you can ride it out and everything comes good again soon.

Today I'm catching up with laundry and other things so a quiet day here.

@Dimity sorry if the post was dark, i will save that stuff for the tool shed in future. It sounds like you set healthy boundaries. I am in the same boat 💕

Hope your area has been safe @scruffypuffball , although you've probably had heat, wind and smoke.

Hope work goes well for you today.

Are you in a bushfire zone too, @scruffypuffball ?

Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks for your kind words and hugs too, @Dimity . Yes, the friend who had to evacuate - her property and livestock are safe for now.

The birthday lunch was a nice distraction, yes.

Today I have an extra work day which I'm looking forward to, as work days mean no housework other than laundry. Still coughing so not able to go and work at the library.

Did you catch up with laundry yesterday? I hope your day is a good one today. Do you have your craft group tomorrow?

Yes @NatureLover craft tomorrow.

Hope your workday went well. I went out for lunch - very rare.

No I didn't completely catch up with laundry. And I still need to put what I did away.

I watered again tonight and cut short my walk. The cumquat looks better - some branches at least - so I hope I can save it. I've lost it before, thrown it out, but it miraculously reshooted. It has sentimental value so I don't want to lose it again.

I hope your asthma eases. My eyes are very sore, probably reaction to the new eyedrops but the smoke doesn't help.

Thanks, @Dimity . I enjoyed my extra work day. Plus I enjoy not feeling guilty about housework.

Did you enjoy your lunch out?

Do you not enjoy laundry? That's one thing I do enjoy.

Your cumquat sounds hardy! I hope it comes good.

I'm due to water this morning. I also want to pop to the local supermarket before work.

I hope you enjoy your craft and socialising today. Also that your eyes ease.

Thanks @NatureLover the day out with friends/family yesterday was great.

Craft today was good too.

Normally I'm fine with laundry but at the moment I'm not coping well. I guess I haven't been for a while. I'm actually fearing a psychotic relapse in the lead up to my hospital admission next week.

I asked a pharmacist about my sore eyes today but she told me to see my gp.

I decided not to do the EMDR homework before seeing the psychologist tomorrow. I'll revisit it in a couple of weeks once the hospital visit is out of the way and I have the results.

Is your asthma improving?
