Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Glad you don't feel triggered, @Escaped_Goat . I don't feel too unsafe, just a bit vulnerable at night, which doesn't help my fear of the dark. I'm sure I can work through it with my psychologist next month. I need to focus on all that serotonin available at night that I'm missing out on...

Well done on going out to get your meds. And having lunch, yay. 🙂

I've done the washing up, a laundry wash and load in the dryer, and folding. I ended up having a long rest - it was peaceful and warm. I actually turned the heater on in the day for a bit of comfort. I read a bit of a novel and then just thought about things. I'm not going to stress about doing less cleaning than I had planned today...I'll do more tomorrow hopefully.

How has your afternoon gone?

@NatureLover I'm glad your day went well.

I'm satisfied with my day. It could have been better but I got some cleaning done. I will carry on tomorrow.

Thanks. I really enjoy chatting to you throughout the day. @Escaped_Goat

I've realised I need to go out tomorrow morning for more bread, lol. Maybe I will get 2 loaves this time and freeze one. I'm just going to have fruit and toast for dinner...I had pasta with zucchini for lunch, that I didn't have last night.

I hope you can keep warm there this evening. It will be 6 overnight tonight here...not too bad.

@NatureLover hope you are doing okay. Did you sleep well? Keeping warm?

I'm a bit blah today.. nothing major. Showered.. took meds.. caffeinated... crumpet toast with Vegemite... mopped kitchen & lounge floor... laundry on the go... eating porridge now...

Need to finish dusting then vacuum the rug.

What are you up to today?

Hi @Escaped_Goat , sorry it's a blah day for you today. Hope that improves as the day goes on, if possible...

Does your porridge have a banana again? 🙂 I have put bananas on my list too.

Yes, I slept well and was in bed properly by 9pm last night. I went out shopping early this morning, then a walk, then a rest under a blanket as it's cold. This afternoon: laundry and clearing the bags on the kitchen and lounge-room floor - there isn't really anywhere to put the groceries that have been piling up but I'll think of something.

Is your new grandchild expected any time now?

@NatureLover Blueberries in my porridge today. 😀

Two weeks until due date but he's dropped so could be any day. 🤞

Have you run out of pantry space or does it need an overhaul? I did mine before my surgery and was surprised how much out of date stuff I found. I thought I was pretty good at stock rotation but clearly not. Mostly stuff like cuppa soups and the like.... a good shopping bag full though! 😮

So you're going to have a grandson! 🙂 @Escaped_Goat

Blueberries sound yum, and aren't they a super-food?

I did an overhaul of my pantry items recently...actually I tend to hoard food a bit (not during the pandemic but before, when things were available) so my psychologist has me doing regular overhauls and donating the food to community groups who help the disadvantaged. The problem is more that there's no storage space - the few kitchen cupboards have crockery and saucepans in them, and I have one tall, narrow shelving unit for food. But I will find space on the bench somehow for the groceries on the floor in bags.

@NatureLover Yes.. it's a boy!

That sounds like my old kitchen.. clearly not designed to store food.. barely had room for dishes etc.

@NatureLover Vacuuming done and dusting finished

I'm calling today successful as far as chores. Didn't actually do much but did what I had planned on.

Tomorrow the bedroom zone.

Well done @Escaped_Goat ! Doing what you planned on is indeed a successful day.

I am still going on the bags on the floor but have been out for a long walk, nearly 2 hours. I took a book and not all of it was walking. It was cold but with occasional brief bursts of sun. Tomorrow we are due to have 3 sunny days in a row...which means you are probably similar?

So soon you will have a granddaughter and a grandson!
