Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I hope the social group will prove good, @Dimity .

How do you feel about the physio discharging you? Do you have exercises you can continue at home?

I'm feeling OK thanks. Possibly dog walking today (got to check the weather).

Seems like your garden wasn't damaged in the storm...mine was OK.

Good luck completing the forms for your psychologist. Hope you feel a bit stronger today 🤞

Glad to hear you're still connecting with your dogwalking friend @NatureLover .

The physio said to go on with the exercises she'd given me. I wasn't really surprised to be discharged, I'm grateful she helped as much as she did when I wasn't really keeping up with the routine. I've been trying to get back to it. I wasn't well enough for a while.

I walked today but otherwise achieved little. Made an effort with the forums and with completing psych assessments ready for the psychologist next week. Trying not to worry about things, although there seems more to worry about every day.

I guess it's back to chores tomorrow. I don't mind if I can do them mindfully and see they make a difference .

Well done for completing your psychologist's homework, @Dimity . Psychologist homework can be confronting!

Do your increasing worries prevent you from sleeping?

Had a nice dog walk yesterday. Today is errands and watering the undercover plants. It was cold out first thing this morning.

I've never thought of doing chores mindfully. Maybe I should try it. Good luck with yours.

Yes @NatureLover I'm up into the small hours worrying, unable to unwind.

Today was a write-off, no chores. Very upset. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Looks as though it will be very wet. So an inside day.

Do you still journal? Does it help?

Sorry to hear you were very upset and worrying into the small hours, @Dimity 😥

I hope you feel a bit better this morning 🤞

I wonder if your new psychologist could teach you some strategies to unwind / sleep?

I don't journal any more, but I write a lot of lists. Such as how much water I drink each day.

An inside day for me too. Not sure yet what I'll be doing, but I need to tidy the kitchen - there are bags on the kitchen floor from yesterday. I feel I need a few days at home, as I've been out a lot lately. Got plenty of food so no need to go to the shops. There are 2 reserved books waiting for me at the library, but I have a week to pick them up, plus plenty of library books at home.

Hoping you feel stronger today...

Lists... I have several untouched to-do lists @NatureLover . I guess fluid intake is important in diabetes. I trust you're doing OK.

I'm hoping to see a new dietician sometime but there's a long wait. I don't have diabetes yet, I'm hoping to avoid it.

Very tired but got through some chores.

Well done for doing chores when you were so tired, @Dimity .

I'm actually very bad at drinking water, which is why I write it down.

Yes, I'm doing OK thanks. I recently condensed several To Do lists into one, and prioritised the items on it. Seems to be working mostly.

Diabetes is very complicated, so good to avoid it if possible. Mine arose from my years in bed due to severe MI.

I ended up achieving nothing yesterday! 😄

Good luck with your week this week...hope your tiredness eases.

My to-do lists are buried under stuff @NatureLover . It's good you're organised with yours.

It sounds as though you've come a long way. Ending up with diabetes is a bad outcome. Yes I guess it would be complicated to live with and manage. I'mat risk.

I'm still tired. I think the stress of the last months? years? has caught up. But there's so much I need to do. I'll see what the psychologist says tomorrow.

I'd rather have diabetes and not be suicidal, @Dimity . Which is my current position - much better than before.

I've been depressed the last 2 days. I thought the S.A.D. had gone for the year, but maybe not.

I'm glad you're seeing your new psychologist today. Hope the session goes well 🤞

I've got dog walking and vacuuming on today.

I hope the walk in the sunshine lifts your mood @NatureLover . Maybe the cold weather triggered your SAD. I'm glad you've largely recovered from the serious MI you've experienced.

Today I'll find out the results of the questionnaires I completed.

Don't forget to try a face mask when you vacuum!
