Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Have a good Friday @NatureLover . I drifted off on the sofa. Moving to bed.

Hi @Dimity , how was the home help yesterday?

I'm regretting inviting this particular friend around next Tuesday, as I've realised she's judgemental about cleanliness. The house is tidy, but I'm going to have to clean the things that didn't matter for my friend last week - scrub the shower, bathroom floor and vacuuming. What a lovely way to spend the weekend - not!

I've gone mad on apple scrolls from the bakery around the corner. Only a 3 minute walk - dangerous! 😄 The scrolls can be a reward for my cleaning.

Good luck with your admin pile today, or whatever tasks you have set yourself.

Hi again @Dimity , hoping you are OK...

I didn't achieve anything on the house yesterday, so the pressure's on today. I also need to go out to do errands either today or tomorrow...haven't decided yet.

Hope you feel a bit stronger today 🤞

Hello @NatureLover

I got myself an apple and walnut scroll just the other day.

Hope the cleaning is easier than you expect.

I've been avoiding my admin, but it has to be done.

The garden-destroying neighbour emailed asking if his tenant/housemate could dump a stray cat and 3 new kittens on me. No!

Feeling blue, didn't have a good session with the psychiatrist yesterday. I feel he despises me. As I deserve.

I'll try to push forward and get some work done.

Not a bad day. Muddling on. Didn't get much done but it was better than nothing.

Hope your cleaning was successful @NatureLover .

I'm glad yesterday wasn't a bad day for you, @Dimity .

But I'm shocked your neighbour wanted to dump 4 cats on you!

And you definitely, absolutely do not deserve anyone despising you. Can you discuss your feeling with him?

I notice you are so hard and down on yourself 😥 I assume from past trauma. It makes me sad.

I scrubbed the shower glass and cleaned the bathroom floor yesterday. I think I can skip vacuuming. I'll scrub the shower walls this morning, and touch up the bathroom basin on Tuesday morning before my friend comes.

I've got dog walking today with a friend, so I hope the rain holds off. Also the errands this morning that I didn't do yesterday.

Good luck today...I hope the rain holds off for your evening walk.

Well done on cleaning so much @NatureLover .

All I did was laundry.

I feel defeated. I'll have to ask the solicitor to explain a redrafted document.

Lots of fallen grapefruit.

I'm trying to walk a little further. No rain here.Do you walk far with the dog?

I'm jealous about your fallen grapefruit, @Dimity ! Do you like them?

I'm sorry you are wading through this legal quagmire 😣

I wasn't up to dog walking after all yesterday. But I did manage to scrub 2 shower walls while having a shower.

Oh - to answer your question properly, it's usually a slower walk with these particular dogs, about 1.5 hours.

The clocks change soon and I always get muddled when it happens. I think it will mean the mornings are darker.

Work today and I'm glad to stay home. Actually - I wonder if I should try working in the library today? I'll have to have a think over breakfast.

I hope you feel OK today and strong enough for whatever needs doing.

I like grapefruit @NatureLover but I have too many. I didn't try to make marmalade this year.

That's quite a long walk for you. It would be too much for me.

Not a good day today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Hop work went well for you yesterday and you enjoyed your friend's visit today. You're brave having people over.

Sorry you had a bad day yesterday, @Dimity . I read that you had a challenging specialist appt. 😥 I hope today is better for you.

Do you have your grapefruit with sugar?

My friend's visit went well, she didn't touch too much and she enjoyed herself. Yes, I was feeling brave and foolish before she arrived - it's a big deal for me to have someone over. Glad it's over; now comes the test of keeping the house neat.

I don't mind the 1.5 hour walk as it's nice and slow. My other dog walking friend goes fast and I can't walk nearly as far with her.

Today is library, supermarket and catching up on some work from home.

What do you have on today?
