Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@Dimity I understand you weren't excusing her behavior, sorry if I come across as hyper today, I have been away from the forums due to workplace bullying for lasting for months and my nervous system is fried. I dont have time to post at sane anymore, it is really affecting my life, and the stuff with my brother and now this, its too much. But I will stay home more often and lay low (not that I go out much anyway). I need to protect myself.

Hugs @scruffypuffball . I'm actually glad you reconnected. Sorry to hear things have been so tough. Maybe you could factor touching base with us forums folk into your plans? Checking in need not take long. I guess this particular conversation spun off more than expected.

Take care.

@Dimity yes hugs too. Sometimes when I am hyper-stressed i come across as too much (my old boss observed that as well and he told me to calm down at one point in 2018). I do become so demoralised with work I cant bring myself to check in, but I need to try.

Good morning @Dimity - I'm not sure your mornings are ever good, but I can hope!

My friend's visit went well and he didn't touch much in the house. I didn't end up scrubbing the shower or vacuuming, but at least the house was neat.

Today's a work day for me. I hope your day works out OK...

I'm glad you enjoyed your friend's visit @NatureLover . That's important. I feel you've made strides.

Hope your workday went well.

Sorry I've been so grouchy. I'm hoping to be on top of my admin soon - perhaps in 2 ro 3 weeks. That will please one family faction.

I unpacked a couple of boxes looking for something for a friend and now have mess. Soft furnishings I made and/or I'm very attached to but don't currently have room for. A hoarder's dilemma.

Thanks, @Dimity . I have to keep the house neat now as I've invited another friend round, eek! Not sure when that will be yet.

That's really good you can see an end in sight with some of your admin soon. And you haven't been grouchy to me 🙂

I can empathise with your hoarder's dilemma. Did you find the item for your friend?

I had an early start with 8.30am coffee with friends, so didn't reply this morning. Then did lots of errands.

Due to go dog walking tomorrow but it looks like it will be raining. So may have to stay home. I love staying home - too much, as you know. Best to go out if possible.

Good luck with your admin over the next 2-3 weeks - hope there's no hiccups.

Wow @NatureLover you're going from strength to strength with your house. I'm very impressed.

I found the item. I've offered it to my friend but it was very expensive and I'm very fond of it. She's renovating. I doubt I'll ever get that far, I'm fatalistic.

Wish me luck with the admin. I printed a huge amount at the library today but gosh I'm tired and overwhelmed. I'll have to fall back on trying to work through it a little at a time. I used to do that with decluttering but haven't really done much for months.

I think I see the counsellor in a fortnight. I have several health-related appointments before then.

I haven't looked at tomorrow's forecast yet. I hope you manage to go on your dogwalk. I see the physio and might try to sort out some stuff at the bank. I hope it's a pleasant day for both of us.

Take care.

Thanks, @Dimity . I only have the house neat because I am forced to by inspections!!

I'm impressed that you offered the item to your friend when you are so fond of it and it was so expensive. Did she accept it?

I definitely wish you luck with your admin! Sounds like you have piles of it just from yesterday, oh wow.

The health condition you have as a side effect of your medication - can the medication be reviewed and possible changed?

I've changed the dog walking today to a phone call with my friend. It's not the same as going out.

Good luck with the physio and the bank today...

Hi @NatureLover the support button isn't working again.

My friend is interested in the beautiful rug.

These days you're doing so much more than just responding to inspections. You're maintaining the place and you've changed your "workflow" with shopping bags.

The bank helped with things I couldn't do online. I only had a short session with the physiotherapist as I hadn't done my homework... I hadn't felt well enough.

Lots of work to do before the home help comes tomorrow. Then the dreaded paperwork. And I need to find a newsletter of local activities I put somewhere... and the garden is calling.

Best wishes for tomorrow - a work day?

Hi @Dimity , thanks for your nice words about my house. We'll see how long it lasts!

The support button seems to be working for me this morning.

I'm glad the bank helped you. Sorry you haven't felt well enough to do your physio exercises.

I hope it's a pleasant experience with your home help today. I wonder if it will be the same lady.

Yes, a work day today. I'm hoping to go to the library to do it soon, just to try; but it depends on what sort of work I have to do. If there's a lot of scanning, like most days, I need to do that from home.

Good luck to you today...
