Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hope you pulled out of your slump @NatureLover .

In the past council always rang to confirm booking time. I rang this morning and they said the new person will have a regular timeslot- - they came today but didn't know they'll be regular, I'm outside their usual area.

Did a little decluttering. Back to the bank tomorrow. Inching forwards.

Have a good day tomorrow.

No, I didn't pull out of my slump and now this morning am running really late. I woke up 2 hours late after 12 hours' sleep! I don't have to go out till 12 but feel discombobulated and grumpy with myself. I think I'm going to have to get a second alarm of some sort.

How was the new home help person? Do you think they'll be a good fit?

Good luck with the bank today. I have errands. My psychologist session today was cancelled as my psychologist is sick.

Sounds like a difficult couple of days for you @NatureLover . I overslept too after a very bad night.

The home help person was OK I guess but left the heavy vacuum cleaner in the middle of the livingroom. She doubted she'd be regular.

Hopefully your errands successfully set you up for the weekend.

I spent hours today trying to work on my admin stuff and I suppose I'm inching forwards but it's not getting any easier and something is lost in the post.

The weekend is coming up and I wish I had something to look forward to.

Hi @Dimity , sorry to hear about your bad night; I hope last night was better.

I'm glad the home helper was OK. Would you be OK with her coming regularly?

I didn't feel up to leaving the house yesterday, so have to do my errands today. At least I now have a system of 3 alarms which worked well this morning.

Is the item that's lost in the post an essential business document? 😥 I hope it does arrive.

Could you go to the garden centre and buy a plant? Not sure if there's room in your garden, but it might be something to look forward to?

Hi @NatureLover sending you best wishes and encouragement for the day.

I'm resigned to whatever happens with home help. They were OK to talk to I guess but I can see what they missed doing.

I should plant what I have before buying more... I wish I could envisage a nice garden.

I'll try to get onto the chores to quell the negativity I'm feeling.

Thanks for your encouragement and good wishes, @Dimity .

At least this morning is lovely and sunny. I bought a tree with a gift voucher this week, and I think my neighbour will dig the hole today.

Sorry that the home help missed stuff. Hopefully you can ask her to do more stuff over time.

How did you go with chores yesterday? I didn't achieve much. I'm tempted to go out today to avoid chores, but I think I'll stay home and try to tackle them. I need to keep up with the house.

Good luck to us both today with our tasks...

A new tree sounds lovely @NatureLover .What sort?

I've been trying - 1 1/2 hrs yesterday, 2 1/2 hrs today but feel I'm going backwards.

I avoided paperwork I should have done too.

It's very dry and I haven't been watering. I'll have to add that to the list.

I'd been planning to tackle a particular box but found today I'd misremembered the contents and couldn't do it.

I'll have to try harder. Today I felt like napping instead but didn't allow myself.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Several hours each day plus not napping sounds like good work to me, @Dimity .

The tree is a dwarf gum tree, very beautiful. Bright orange blossom once it flowers.

The horrors of a box's contents I can well understand.

I'm finding the weather milder and am really enjoying being outside. My new alarm system isn't working though - I'll have to adjust it.

Do you have spring blooms in your garden?

Good luck with whatever tasks you have to do today..

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

My spring blooms are just pots or potted colour I planted out @NatureLover . I've lost quite a few things over the years and need to start again

Your dwarf euky sounds lovely. When I was a kid there were a few flowering gums around - quite a range of colours

I got through a gp appt today and haven't done much else. I'm dreading going back to admin stuff tomorrow.

Good luck tomorrow - are you still keeping the neatness streak running?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Well done for getting through the GP appt yesterday, plus I read on your thread that you're going to face going back to the counsellor - well done.

I've mostly kept the neatness streak going, although there's a lot of little things I need to attend to today, including some disinfecting. Nothing big though, no bags on the floor for instance.

I will also have to do some cleaning this week as I'm having a friend over on Sunday. Very rare for me to have anyone over. I'll need to scrub the shower, for instance, as it's visible from the lounge-room.

One of my hanging basket pots fell down as the macrame hanger broke. I need to go and get a plastic or metal hanging thing...I'm not sure from where, or even what they're called. Do you know? I also have some other errands to do, and some work-from-home to catch up on.

Good luck with your admin stuff today...

@Dimity
