Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @Dimity , windy today - I hope you can get your walk in this evening before the rain starts.

I like the wind, as long as it's not gale force! How do you feel about windy days?

I had an off day yesterday and didn't even attempt to achieve anything. This morning I was determined to achieve something so I've been gardening, watering and fertilising the undercover plants, doing laundry and tidying for 2.5 hours. Have just come in for a rest. There's still more to do as I'm trying to beat my previous record of 4 weeks keeping the house neat. (It's only been 10 days so far)

I wonder if you had a bad day yesterday, as you were quiet...

I hope you feel you can cope today 🤞

Hello @NatureLover

Sorry for not posting last night, I must have lost track. Yesterday was no worse than usual (still struggling a bit). I did 2.5 hours household stuff, and it felt inadequate. I've done 1 hour so far today including a bit of decluttering.

Well done on your efforts today.

I like wind as a sign of the changing seasons and enjoy hearing it in the trees unless it's particularly strong, when I get nervous about damage. I sometimes wonder about equinoctial gales but have been told they're a furphy.

I'm telling myself to persevere with the paperwork and clutter, that they're within my control. There's been a breakdown of communication with a couple of people - one being my therapist - and I'm at a loss.

I need to shop this afternoon and will try to do more in the house.

You're doing well to keep the place tidy 10 days so far - you're edging towards halfway to your goal.

Thanks, @Dimity .

I'm glad yesterday was not worse for you. I know you're struggling with all your many burdens. 🫂

2.5 hours yesterday and 1 hour today is good.

How easy would it be to try to resume communication with your therapist and the other person? Or are there barriers now?

I'm still resting - oops! Next thing is to cook lunch. I usually prefer my main meal at lunch, rather than dinner.

Hope you don't get drenched when out shopping.

@NatureLover the weather seemed to clear for a while. Very changeable.

The therapist had misconfigured her billing software jeopardising my MHCP and Medicare accountabilities. I hadn't realised. It was yet another shock. I really feel both very let down and very inadequate. I'm not sure whether to continue seeing her and I'm ashamed of letting my GP down.

The other person has been either blocking or ignoring me but it's essential for a number of reasons I stay in touch.

Today I started decluttering again as well as trying to get through some chores. Feeling useless. But trying to persevere.

Tomorrow another week begins.

Am so sorry to hear about your therapist's billing errors, @Dimity 😥 Are you out of pocket a lot? It sounds scary 😣

Has she fixed the errors now? Is she the sort of person you could talk through your feelings of betrayal with?

And that's not good that that other person hasn't been in contact.

I've been sleeping in till 7.15 or 7.30 every morning, and I don't know why. It has really thrown me out as I am behind every morning now. It's light around 6 / 6.15 and I want to be outside in it. It makes me feel discombobulated. If I wake up at 6 I can take things nice and slow, which I like.

I have the dentist today and I'm lucky it's at 1pm, as if it had been at my usual 9am I would have been so late and stressed - I've only just finished breakfast and it's 9.40am!

I hope your day goes better today.

Hope the dentist wasn't too stressful and you didn't need work @NatureLover .

I'm not out of pocket but the counsellor left me in a precarious position with the gp and Medicare referrals.

It may be good if you're getting more sleep. Are you going to bed later? My sleep cycle is out of whack, it's always worse when I'm upset.

I haven't heard from council so I'm hoping they haven't suspended my home help again. My admin worries aren't much closer to resolution. I'll find out more tomorrow... I'm expecting more problems with the bank.

Quicksand again.

Sorry to hear you're back in quicksand, @Dimity 😥

I didn't realise you'd been having problems with the bank. I guess that's what you meant by financial problems. I'm glad you're not out of pocket re the counsellor. Can you sort out the Medicare issues?

The dentist went OK thanks and no work was needed.

I've been sleeping for 11 hours - too much! But thankfully I woke up early this morning and was out walking early which is how I prefer it.

Why would council suspend your home help? Because you cancelled the last appt?

Got coffee with friends from my old workplace this morning.

Hope the quicksand dries up very soon 🤞

Gosh I'm trying to push through.

Problems on 3 fronts today.

And I have no idea if the home help is coming tomorrow or not. I'm guessing not.

Hope you enjoy another early start @NatureLover . I'm still trying to unwind so it's another late night.

@Dimity Do they usually confirm the home help is coming?

I did enjoy another early morning, thanks. But now have fallen in a slump at only 7.55am. Oh dear. Don't even want breakfast.

Sorry you had 3 problems at once yesterday...good luck resolving them.
