Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @Dimity , I hope your important appt went well yesterday.

Has the council rescheduled your home help?

I'm going to try again to keep the house neat and see how long it lasts this time. Last time was 4 weeks. Although this time I do have a box sitting there - I didn't put it in the shed on Weds but kept it in the house.

Today I have errands in the rain this afternoon. At least it wasn't raining for my dawn walk. I might try to catch up on some work this morning - I owe some time.

I heard the weather bureau have forecast a wet spring. Not good for my S.A.D. but maybe good for your garden?

I don't think this winter has been as cold as last year - what do you think?

Hope today goes OK for you...

Hi @NatureLover I trust the inspection is behind you now. It will be good to challenge yourself to keep things tidy, but please don't put too much pressure on yourself

I had an important meeting with the solicitor and can move onto the next stage. I'm dreading some of the work coming up as I'm now on the wrong side of the digital divide.

I guess I'll hear from the council in a fortnight.

Thanks yes rain would help my garden. Hopefully the longer days will offset any grey days for you.

To answer an earlier question I'm aware of problems with my eyesight most of the time. But the worst problems when I can't see much at all usually don't last long as they're associated with lighting angle etc.

I'm nervous about a dentist visit today. I'll ask for frequent pauses (last time I choked).

I'm behind on chores again ...

I'm not sure about the cold this winter @NatureLover . Earlier we seemed to get very cold overnight. This year I've been running the aircon during the day .

The dentist was OK.

Hope you've been feeling a bit better today.

I'm glad the dentist visit went OK, @Dimity .

Yes, we did have a run of exceptionally cold nights, you're right. Down to minus 3!

I'm so sorry about your eyesight, my friend 😭

Well done in progress with your solicitor. I'm not sure what you mean by "on the wrong side of the digital divide"?

I already have 2 bags on my kitchen bench, unpacked! The reason is that one has my monthly meds from the chemist in it, and I like to let them sit for a while due to germs, before putting them away. The other is my handbag that needs changing (I use cloth bags so I can wash them frequently). So I must deal with them today if I want to maintain the neatness.

I have a lunch today with friends I don't see very often.

Good luck with your tasks today. I hope you can get a walk in, amongst the rain showers.

Hi @NatureLover I don't think we had rain. I did walk. Hope you enjoyed your lunch with friends.

I got through some extra cleaning today. A couple of windows and the fridge.

Bad anxiety today, procrastinating about my admin tasks. I'm worried about the family situation too. And I'm dismayed by the clutter, I haven't moved forward with it for ages.

You're right, we didn't get the rain. I'm glad you got your walk @Dimity .

The lunch went OK but I always end up drained and depressed after seeing that group of ladies. Still depressed this morning and still in bed, no walk.

Sorry about your anxiety and dismay. I hope it eases.

Well done for your cleaning.

Hope you pushed through and found the day improved @NatureLover . I did.

I'm battling on. Housework, laundry, admin. Minuscule amount of decluttering.

I think (hope) things are levelling out a bit and not continuing to get worse.

Yes, my day improved slightly, @Dimity . Glad yours did.

Well done for your efforts. I didn't achieve anything.

I hope things are levelling for you.
