Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I did 1 1/2 hrs @NatureLover . Better than nothing. Realised I haven't been coping.

The music and breaking for my usual walk helped.

I was so impressed when you said you'd braved the Shed of Doom. I'm scared even thinking about the horrors barring access to my far-off trove. Definitely guarded by dragons. And I need to make room for it here. I have no idea how I squeezed it all under one roof in the distant past.

Thanks, @Dimity ❤

I can feel your horror at bringing your things from storage into your house, where there's no room 😣 Plus getting access to them in the first place 😥

You make me feel fortunate I can access my Shed of Doom.

Well done for doing 1 1/2 hours, especially when you haven't been coping.

Today I have dog walking and hopefully a bit more tidying and laundry...what about you?

Hope you enjoyed dogwalking @NatureLover . And achieved some tidying.

I did 1 1/2 hours around the house and shopped. I tried to research some plants for the backyard too. I feel I lost track otherwise. I talk to my psychiatrist tomorrow and might increase my meds a little until my medical, legal, and financial stuff is under control. Other family worries I can't do anything about.

I tried to respond to a government enquiry too. But a friend said today I spend too much time on externalities and not enough doing the hard things around the house. She's in the middle of renovating. Degree of difficulty? Infinite for me at present.

Sorry I've lost track of what I said and I can't scroll back. The cat is yelling. So I'll close there. Take care. I hope work goes well tomorrow.

1 1/2 hours is good, @Dimity 👍

I'm sorry your friend said that.

I wasn't up to dog walking yesterday - I got angry and upset as my neighbour brought the aggressive dog here without telling me, and I got a fright. I did end up using the anger to do 2 hours' work on the house though.

Good luck with your psychiatrist today and with increasing your meds.

I can well imagine your fright @NatureLover . I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm glad you could channel the anger into something positive

I've had a very productive day. Made progress re discussing home help, psych is happy for me to stay on same meds but using prn as needed, got an answer from hospital, and a helpful family member did a lot in the garden for me.

But the legal and financial stuff is scary and I'll have to tackle it tomorrow.

Thanks, @Dimity .

Well done on all your achievements yesterday! What progress happened on discussing your home help? (No worries if you'd rather not say)

Today I've got a lunch that's a duty and a coffee that's a pleasure straight afterwards.

Your legal and financial problems do sound scary. Good luck today..

@NatureLover I talked to a couple of people ar council. They'll chat to him and I'm supposed to try to teach him next time he comes and let them know if it doesn't work out. I did say I wasn't entirely comfortable as council has its own list of preferred products and tools (which the chap wasn't across) and my methods had been different. It was amicable (the postive) but actually I'm feeling fed up with it all.

Haircut today and reading up on legal stuff for tomorrow

.

Well done for talking to council about the home help guy.

I hope it does work out and that he takes direction.

But no wonder you feel fed up, as it's been an ongoing saga of disappointment. 😣

I've got the psychiatrist appt at the germy hospital today. I'm hoping he doesn't cancel me for the 7th time!

Then dog walking this afternoon if it's not raining.

Good luck with your legal stuff, @Dimity 🤞

I saw the solicitor @NatureLover and asked for help but have ended up needing certification of capacity. It can't be resolved in time for my procedure so I've cancelled. The possible consequences are dire.

Hope you finally get to see your psychiatrist.
