Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover you've really had the runaround on that hospital appointment. I contacted my outpatients dept about an appointment I need a week ago and they haven't replied. I emailed as I was no. 35 in the queue when I rang.

My new home help today was unbelievable. ClueIess. Couldn't operate a powerboard, accidentally dismantled the sliding showerscreen, asked for a mug to throw water at the shower recess to clean it. And he's permanent. I'm not sure if I can say anything to council.

It's been a bad couple of weeks. So much to deal with. And so much more coming up. But hopefully feeling a bit safer again on the forums.

I'm proud of you for getting out in the sun with dogwalks. I'm nervous of dogs especially big ones which can be awkward. Hope it helps your SAD.

Enjoy your weekend.

Oh nooooo, @Dimity re your new home help!!! He's your permanent home help now? Yes I would definitely alert council, as they need to know he's useless at cleaning, the job he's employed for!!!

I see in Notifications you've tagged me on your Magic of Tidying thread, but I can't see the post. This is happening more and more lately. I think I will take a screenshot or two.

I was shocked to hear you were number 35 in the queue when you rang the hospital outpatient dept. That would take all day!

I'm relieved you're feeling a bit safer on the forums, as I wouldn't want to lose you.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm scared of dogs in general, but it's easier with dogs I know. Plus I'm walking with 2 separate dog whisperers.

I actually feel like having a cleaning and tidying day today. I'd like to invite you to do it with me, but I'm afraid you won't see this till late tonight.

I'm dog walking again tomorrow, so can't focus on the cleaning and tidying tomorrow.

Hope things feel a bit stronger soon for you 🤞

@tyme hi! I'm getting a strange thing on the forums lately. I've taken 2 screenshots. For instance, my Notifications say that @Dimity has tagged me in a post on the Magic of Tidying thread, but all I see is the screenshot below:

And I can't get on to page 183 to see the post. Do you know why?

Thanks!

Hi there @NatureLover ,

Great to see you. Yes, we have escalated these glitches to developers and they are working on it. We are following up daily with this so hope it gets sorted soon. It's a bit annoying for everyone at the moment. Sorry for this annoying bug.

Hope you've been alrightish!

Sorry @tyme hadn't realised you'd escalated this glitch. Thank you!

Yes, I'm alrightish apart from the S.A.D. thanks. Hope you're well too.

Good luck with your cleaning and tidying @NatureLover . I'd love to join you but it will just be trying to work my way through life admin paperwork on the kitchen table.

Thanks for letting me know you can't see my other post.

@tyme another post of mine disappeared yesterday and I reported it to the team to see if it had been moderated. With everything that's happened on the forums in the last couple of weeks for me and now I can't rely on my posts being seen it doesn't feel very safe posting.

Sorry you don't feel very safe posting, @Dimity 😥

Good luck with your life admin paperwork. I think that might be what I call my business affairs - updating my calendar, making medical appts, arranging my life.

Feel free to check in with me about how it's going, if you want.

Hi @NatureLover

Thanks. Hope your cleaning and tidying day is going well. I'm plodding - have started the sorting - and am attending to my MH as I'm unsettled by so much going wrong. Listening to a CD. Will get back to the papers again after a cuppa.

Well done for putting music on, making a cuppa and looking after your MH, @Dimity . I think that comes before house cleaning / tidying.

I've cleared the lounge-room, washed bags and faced The Shed of Doom to find two things, which I found. Still got to do the watering and a few other things.

Good luck with your papers...
