Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Oops.

That's good you're having a self-care day today as well. I might too, apart from my appointment. Currently minus 1C here and it's only May! But due to be "sunny", yay.

Hope you're feeling OK this morning as you fuel up. @Escaped_Goat

Hi @Escaped_Goat , are you OK?

I've been on the phone most of the day with the internet down....looks like it will be down for at least another 24 hours, and I don't have a lot of mobile data left on my phone. So if I'm not around much, that's why. But I will be back in a while to see if you've replied... I hope you are OK and your self-care day is going well.

@NatureLover Bit late jumping on here. Felt okay this morning but developed a headache as the morning went on so have been lying down hoping it would go away. It didn't. I suspect it's related to my teeth as my ears hurt too. I will phone the emergency dentist on Monday and cry a lot. I'm tired of calling them and being rejected but I am on the waiting list... for all the good that does!

@NatureLover That's no fun having no internet... I hate having no internet even if it's night and I'm planning on sleeping 😂 Hope you survive okay...

I will probably not be on much if this headache continues. If I'd realised it was tooth related earlier I'd have called the dentist but I put it down to stress. The neighbor went to work without feeding his dog... again... so the dog has been crying all day.. again... and I'm tired of calling the rspca and not having anything done because I can't access the property to prove that the dog has no food. I kind of know the routines and sounds of the neighbors here and he didn't feed the dog this morning.... I would have heard it. The poor thing is always outside too.

That's no good about your toothache / headache @Escaped_Goat . I was shocked to hear that you get rejected by the emergency dentist! Surely they have to treat a toothache? I'm really sorry you have to wait the whole weekend 😞

And I'm sorry to hear about that poor dog too. Hungry and outside all the time in these cold nights? It's beyond belief why some people have dogs.

Please take care this weekend...thanks for letting me know. I hope you will be all right and not in too much pain. I will pop in as much as I can to see if you've posted.

@NatureLover I failed the scripted questions they ask. On Monday I will just say yes to everything. I was honest and said no I haven't had ibuprofen because I can't take them with the strong pain meds I'm on. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

I agree.. some people don't deserve dogs. If the gate wasn't chained and padlocked... 🤫

How was your day?

Ah, I see. Good luck...I hope you can get an appointment on Monday!

If that gate wasn't chained and padlocked, would the RSPCA investigate?

I had a frustrating day with no internet and trying to get the problem fixed. It's amazing how reliant on the internet I am for everything. But I managed to get a Telehealth appointment today so I didn't have to drive or go out, thankfully. Oh, and I forgot to tell you that my nice neighbour tested negative for Covid-19 🙂

It's too cold tonight to not go to bed properly at a reasonable hour...at least, I'm telling myself that. I hope you can sleep tonight with the added pain you have... 😞 @Escaped_Goat

@NatureLover the rspca lady said she would put it on the list for the inspector but they didn't usually go out to calls where it's just you can hear the animal crying and can't actually see if the bowls are empty. Even though numerous times I have tossed food over and in summer I chucked ice over because there's no way to get a bowl of water to the dog. The dog stops crying after I toss food over so I know that's what is wrong. Last night I heard it crying a few times in the night obviously cold. I have peeked through a gap in the fence and it has nothing but they are not the sort of people you want to get caught peeking through their fence... if you know what I mean. One time they had a party and smashed plastic outdoor furniture and bits of it hit the side of my house and other bits ended up as far as my sons yard which considering they are the middle unit and side on to his yard that's a pretty good distance. I'm in the foot of the L of my sons yard and the back yard of the units face the front of my house. Except it's a backwards L actually. Anyway more information than necessary 😂

I hope the internet gets fixed for you today. I'm glad you got a Telehealth appointment. I do like them.. thanks covid! But if this goes on much longer I might get into a bad habit of not leaving the house except to walk. 😂

So happy for your neighbor.. must have been awfully stressful.

I am really feeling the cold this year... not sure if it's because it's colder sooner or because I'm a lot thinner this year. Either way I'm not prepared... might need to pull out an extra blanket already to put on the bed. Even my dog whimpered in the night when her blanket came off and I had to cover her up again.. not at all spoiled. It was actually more like shoving her butt closer and closer into my ribs and whimpering but I got the message and pulled her blanket over her again and she settled back down. 😂

My mouth has settled.. am drinking coffee. Will stick to soft foods and not challenge it this weekend. The fact that I'm getting breakthrough pain while I'm on very strong opioid painkillers says something about how bad it is.

How was your night? Cold enough?

Oh gosh, am sorry to hear 😞

It's definitely colder sooner this year, I reckon. I actually was properly in bed by 9pm last night with the lights off.

Oh no, you think that the dog next door doesn't even have a kennel? 😞 Good on you for throwing food and ice over the fence - I would too.

Thanks - my neighbour is pretty relieved and I am as well.

My internet problem has been referred to the NBN by my provider, and I'm not sure if the NBN works on the weekends...do you know?

I haven't made a plan for today yet, other than the usual laundry wash. Do you think you'll be able to do any of those fun projects you mentioned the other day, with your toothache?

@NatureLover That's good you were properly in bed. It's too cold to be falling asleep on top of the bed these nights.

I do recall nbn working weekends when they were here but that was a long time ago so I'm not sure what they are doing these days.

I will try to do something fun today. I'm going to walk when I'm feeling thawed out.
