Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Good (late) morning, @Escaped_Goat - I slept in after waking up at 6 but not getting up. Am on my second coffee - you have definitely corrupted me! 😄

Yes, pathology rooms are germy too in my mind, but one step down from hospitals and medical clinics. That's good you are catered for at your doctor's rooms and can sit outside his door. My GP has said that during this Covid-19 crisis she will come outside to my car if I really can't come inside - how lovely is that! I haven't needed her to do that yet though.

Good luck with your slippery mind this morning... I hope your anxiety about the surgeon's phone call is not too bad and that it goes well.

@NatureLover Aren't we lucky to have found good doctors. Although sometimes I think it's just finding one who suits our personality because many people in my local fibromyalgia group don't like my doctor because he tells them how to improve their symptoms but it's not things they want to do. You know.. like exercise and change their diet etc. Maybe a doctor is only as good as his patients? I've changed doctors in the past because their treatment plans didn't suit me but that wasn't to say they weren't doing their best... their field of interest wasn't in chronic pain though so their knowledge base was not as broad as a doctor whose interest lies in chronic pain. My previous doctor was brilliant with joint injuries though.

I remembered what I wanted to do and wrote it all down and have done 2 of the 5 so far.

I had my two home coffees then I had to go out and get a new kettle as mine decided to spurt water from the base so I got petrol and a giant cappuccino while I was out! I have definitely corrupted you.. two coffees again! 😀

My anxiousness isn't too bad at the moment... I'm trying to think positive and that there will be no mention of the big C and that they got it all. That is entirely possible.

Oh no, @Escaped_Goat - I hadn't realised that the big 'C' was a possibility, however small. 😞 Am crossing all my fingers for you this afternoon...

That's so fortunate that you've found a local doctor who specialises in chronic pain.

Surely a cappuccino would be too weak for you after your normal jet fuel?!

That's great you're doing your To Do list as it would be a good distraction. I have yet to make my list for today - a walk is next.

@NatureLover thanks I'm keeping positive as much as one can about these things.

I do like my doctor and he always says if all his patients with chronic pain were as willing to try as I am his job would be so much more rewarding because he likes to see results.

I was lucky with my cappuccino this morning my favourite barista was on so he knew to put an extra shot in... I generally have to argue with new ones...

it already has four shots in madam..

I'm aware of that and I'd like an extra shot please. ..

so you want five shots?...

isn't that what I just said?..

any sugar?

no thanks..

so max cappuccino extra shot no sugar?

yes. like I said in the first place. thanks.

Oh my gosh, @Escaped_Goat , 5 shots in a cappuccino? That would knock me right out! 😮

I had a good appointment over the phone with my psychiatrist, and he's faxing a new script to my chemist (just a regular script that was due).

How was your appointment with your surgeon?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@NatureLover It's a 600ml cup! I think 5 shots is reasonable in that size cup! 😂

Glad your appointment went well. It's a whole new world all these phone appointments but I could get used to it!

My appointment went very well... I'm all clear! Yay! They got it all! Mind you they took everything out so I'm glad about that!

This is fantastic news, @Escaped_Goat ! I'm very happy for you! 🙂

How has your exercising been going?

5 shots in a 600ml cup is still an awful lot to me, lol...

Hi @Shaz51 , nice to see you, how are you going? My bread just came out of the breadmaker and it's really seedy, lol. Would you like some? 😄

I'm also setting the crust to "dark" so that it's holding together better in the toaster.

You must feel so relieved, @Escaped_Goat . You can have lots of coffee to celebrate!
