Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @NatureLover yes voting was easy for me too. Sorry to hear about your kitchen... things can get overwhelming can't they? I hope you can clear a path to the microwave so you can heat your takeaways.

I'm going out tomorrow and will be walking and on my feet for hours... I hope I'm up to it. And I'll have to be up in time, instead of oversleeping.

On my decluttering journey I feel life has turned another page and I'll have to begin again, again. But I'm in a better place than than I was a year ago, when my first helper started. I've made progress. Not huge, but some.

I'll be thinking of you as you face your kitchen. You can do it, I'm sure, in one of your trademark bursts of energy. Me, I just have to summon the courage to start slowly chipping away again.

Hi @scruffypuffball well done on walking and the salad. Yes I tend to work myself into a panic before doing important stuff too, I think it goes with procrastinating too long beforehand. Doing my tax backlog paid off in being able to apply for concession cards once I had proof of income. Trauma and lack of spoons... yep... they don't help.

Are you having work done on the house? The wind must have been very strong to dislodge the scaffolding. I hope there was no other damage.

I'm muddling on, no major health issues touch wood. I trust you're well too? It's good to hear from you. Keep us posted.

Hi @scruffypuffball , well done for achieving all that when you've been unwell for so long.

That's an intriguing strategy! 😄

I'm so pleased to hear this. It sounds very hopeful.

Thanks for thinking of me with my kitchen today. I can access the microwave but have to lean over sideways to reach the sink. It can't go on.

I'll be thinking of you, being on your feet for hours today...hoping you get through it well. At least it's not going to rain today. Sending hugs 💚

@NatureLover I'm trying to get back on top of chores. I've done some cleaning and used the new stick vacuum... it's very light and manoeuvrable. I'll need to get onto some bills and paperwork too.

Yesterday's outing proved quite enjoyable... worth the effort, but I slept in the afternoon. I don't have much stamina at present.

How was your weekend?

Hi @Dimity , thanks for your good thoughts ❤️

I was thinking of you with your event where you had to be on your feet for hours...so glad it went well and was enjoyable.

My weekend was nice thanks, although I did too much reading of exciting books (which was why it was nice) and not enough tidying. I feel overwhelmed at present. By my tasks, by the house and by just being vertical instead of in bed. But I am vertical and have the dentist today! Plus trying to update Centrelink on a big rent rise. Amazing I'm out of bed really!

Your stick vacuum sounds like a good investment. Good luck with your chores, bills and paperwork... 🤞

@NatureLover I imagine the dentist could be daunting, and Centrelink stressful & possibly a long wait. Hope it all went well. I'm with you on overwhelm... I feel weighed down and fearful but trying to do a little each day while avoiding the big stuff.

I was super impressed by your success in the kitchen.

Today I printed some stuff at the library to advance my paperwork and am catching up on laundry. Still behind on so much but will chip away at it. Gp tomorrow changing over to new healthcare card, have already set up the new MyMedicare.

I hope your rent rise will be manageable. Everything is going up.

Hi @Dimity , just popping in to write a post to you...I've fallen in a slump. Didn't even make it in to work today. Haven't managed Centrelink yet. Achieved nothing today except library for more books and supermarket for comfort food.

Well done on new Health Care Card and the MyMedicare. Can you tell me if setting up the MyMedicare was easy or hard?

I think the rent rise will be manageable but it's certainly a big jump. Thanks.

Sorry you feel overwhelmed...sending hugs 💚

Books and food... good for body and soul @NatureLover . Thanks for catching up, I was concerned.

I'm a bit peeved about the MyMedicare thing actually. I had a very easy webbased form sent by my gp's practice then today - 2 days after they locked me in - they notified me they'll stop bulkbilling.

Rest up @NatureLover, I know things haven't been easy. And there's so much bad news around. Sending thoughts of loving-kindness... may good will prevail in all our endeavours.
