Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover Exercise was good but yes.. need to build up again. Surprisingly weak.

I wish I could not cry for a while.. I'm kind of fed up with crying so much. I'm not an attractive cryer... just call me Rudolph 😂

Congrats on the 3 walks! Yeah that cold front has already hit us here... icy air. Not sure we will get the hail this side of the hills but we will freeze our bums off if we don't rug up!

I feel like we skipped autum and went straight to winter.. mind you apart from the hellish heatwave at the beginning of summer the rest of summer was relatively mild. So crazy. I suspect we will be getting cold weather well into August and September and not too many spring like days in those months as we had last year.

@NatureLover Just wanted to pop on and wish you a good day. Going for a drive with my son this morning... part of some elaborate Mother's Day plot I'm sure. The weather lied yesterday and said no rain for us but it has been cats and dogs since about 5am... woke me up. Had a fitful sleep... bad dreams. Whoever said life wasn't meant to be easy needs to take that back! I saw a cool thing on Facebook yesterday... meals in Cobb loafs. I think they just used bread rolls but I think it's a brilliant idea. I may need to take up running to offset the bread but think of the possibilities!
Hope you slept well and are feeling okay today despite the wild weather.

I'm feeling okay apart from tired 😂 Would have liked to get back to sleep but my sister messaged me before 6am with a bunch of questions about the family tree. So I ended up having coffee and answering questions for her.
I didn't really mind. I just wish she wasn't such an early bird. I used to be but not so much now.
I think I want to get my garden going.. I didn't plant anything after the summer crops were done with because I knew the surgery was coming up and I wouldn't be able to do anything out there but I think I can start it now... there's only about 4 weeks or less until I can start lifting things again. I was concerned about having to water it because I rely on rain water tanks for my garden and a watering can 😂 Not enough pressure to run a hose properly. I'm thinking we might get sufficient rain or I can make do with a drizzly hose for a short while.
Now to work out what I can plant at this time of year....

@Escaped_Goat thanks for checking in, I think a drive is a good idea for a rainy day as otherwise you would be stuck inside. I hope you have a lovely time.

That's not good you had a bad night though. Hope your day improves from that start. Gosh, messaging before 6am! Would it have woken you up if you hadn't already been awake?

I'm thinking you might get enough rain to water your garden - I read on a weather page that the next few months are due to be wet in southern Australia. You're right that the summer was mostly mild, and February was amazingly cool and wet.

I would actually like to be able to cry a bit more, like when a situation needs it. I feel sad but can't often cry. But overall I'm happy with how my psych meds enable me to function, so am willing to wear it. I can understand though how you might be sick of crying.

I'm not sure yet how I'm feeling today but I know that making bread will help, so that will be the first task for the day - a nice task too. Yes, I'm determined next time I'm passing Woollies to get that mini cobb loaf you mentioned!

@NatureLover We ended up driving down to adelaide and meeting up with my daughter and granddaughter at a park so that was a lovely surprise. We had lunch at the park and a nice visit before the rain returned. Then the long drive home again. I'm actually in my pyjamas in bed because I'm really sore.. the long drive sent my pain levels through the roof and I'm chilled to the bone despite being rugged up warm all day. We left at 8am and got home at 5:35pm. Long day but a good day.

How was your day? Did it get cold there too?

Hi @Escaped_Goat , how lovely to see your daughter and granddaughter! Did you clue on where you were going?

I hope you were able to sleep last night with your pain levels so high?

I guess being outside all day might have chilled you. It wasn't too cold here yesterday but this morning is only 3 with a top of 14. I am due to go shopping after breakfast and I'm going to Woollies so will look for the mini cobb loaf.

@NatureLover I feel a bit behind with replies but that's probably my brain because yesterday was different to previous days. I think that's an OCD thing.. a change in routine and my brain starts searching for things I missed doing. I put it down to that anyway for want of a better answer.

Cobb loaf Sunday! I'm keeping my fingers crossed you manage to get one!
I am going to try making one today.

Seeing my granddaughter did me so much good... didn't cure my depression but certainly lifted my spirits! I'm going to be gentle on myself today.. the body and mind. Yesterday was big physically and emotionally.

How are you feeling today?

That's so good to hear @Escaped_Goat . Especially after such a big day. Sounds good to be gentle on yourself today.

Yes, I get a bit thrown by doing things out of order or missing something in my routine.

I got a cobb loaf - it's bigger then I imagined. But it feels very crusty which is good. Good luck making yours!

I'm feeling very sore all up my left side and the left arm and a bit of the chest. I don't think it's the precursor to a heart attack as my jaw is fine...I think it's the raking I did 2 days ago. Maybe I overcompensated for my knee. It hasn't happened before after raking, but then again I'm not doing my volunteer work at the moment so am out of condition. I'm going to go and lie down now as shopping was a bit painful. I'm guessing nothing like your pains though...take care today.

Oh gosh @NatureLover take care. Don't hesitate to seek medical advice if you feel worse.

Maybe the mini cobbs vary depending on the baker... the ones at our Woolworths are very cute.

Oh gosh, am not thinking straight @Escaped_Goat - I meant to say, I hope your Mother's Day today is not too difficult.

Thanks for your good wishes, I'm sure it's the raking now, after discussing it with my nice neighbour. But yes, if it persists I will consider seeing a doctor.

I might be posting on the cooking thread tonight with my tomato soup in cobb bowl and making everyone jealous... Actually you might be doing the same!

@NatureLover so far my day is good. If the sun would decide to stop playing hide and seek... I'm sitting inside but the sun comes out shines on the windows I feel warm.. cardigan off... sun goes behind a cloud.. cardigan on. I'm so confused! 😂 😂

Yes... I have the bread machine making the dough for me right now. Thinking of adding some basil and cheese. Found that I had tomato soup in the pantry so yay!
