Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover My list was deliberately small 🙃

I plan to keep making small lists... it feels good! 😂

Good morning, @Escaped_Goat ...how did you sleep? I slept well despite the shocking 2 (mild) coffees, lol. Am having 2 again this morning. Do you have any more coffees throughout the day as well?

I plan to make a small list today too. Am feeling a bit brighter this morning.

Good luck with your buttonholes...

Good morning @NatureLover glad to hear you slept well. I slept okay.. the usual pain issues but nothing that kept me awake for too long in the night.

Supposed to be sunny here again today. No wind so looks like a walk and other exercise is possible!

Some days I do have extra coffees. It doesn't seem to impact my sleep at all. I haven't had any extras lately... avalanche sugar free hot chocolate. It was on special so I thought I'd try it... it's okay. I guess sugar free is an acquired taste 😂 I am trying to be healthier though. It has stevia in so it's not not sweet just not as sweet as sugar.

Besides the buttonholes I'm not making a list... first day of exercise so today I'm going to focus on that and see what else I feel I need to get done. Most likely the floor... I tend to drop all my cut threads on the floor so you can imagine what that looks like after several days of sewing. 😂

Glad you are feeling brighter today!

@Escaped_Goat I'm sorry to hear that pain keeps you awake in the night...glad last night wasn't too bad.

It's amazing all that coffee doesn't affect your sleep. It must suit your constitution. That's the same as with me and meat - I've never eaten it, and that just suits my constitution. When I was 8 I put my foot down to my father and said I wasn't going to sit at the dinner table for ages every night after everyone had left, trying to chew the meat and not being able to swallow it. I've been vegetarian since then. Actually I was vegan for 2 years just recently as well. (Don't worry, not one of those militant vegans....I don't mind what other people eat.)

It's actually sunny here and I've been for a long walk already! Long as in time, not distance. It was so great to be outside. Am thinking of trying the raking next and seeing how my knee goes. I'll go carefully.

Enjoy your first day of getting back to exercise! It sounds like you've been super-patient. Exercise, the floor and buttonholes...sounds like a productive day ahead and a nice small list. 🙂

@NatureLover I've been vegetarian most of my adult life.. I eat mostly plant based but sometimes eggs, cheese, condensed milk 😂 I know there are vegan substitutes for those and I don't mind those and use them at times too so I'm not sure why the back slides at times. I never liked meat much as a kid but I was always trying to be good so aside from hiding it or dropping it under a younger siblings chair there wasn't much getting out of it. My teen years I was more successful because if I came home from school with grass in my hair from laying on the oval mother assumed I'd been with a boy and sent me to bed without dinner. 😂 Once I moved out I lived with a few friends and depending on who cooked I was vegan or vegetarian or sometimes ate fish. We never had fish growing up so that was a novel experience.

I have been for a long walk and swept the floor up to the table so once I've done the buttonholes I only have that bit to do. About to do them now. 🙃

I have had my two super strength coffees.. a litre of water and a banana. Oh and all my morning meds and supplements. After lunch I will do my exercises.

@Escaped_Goat, your post made me laugh! Oh dear.

I've tried the vegan substitutes - the condensed milk is nice but the vegan cheeses are all yuck (in my opinion). I wasted a lot of money on trying those. I haven't tried any egg substitutes. I'm still vegan in terms of cosmetics, cleaning products, honey and eggs. But it was hard doing without dairy cheese. (Also, I don't put my own decisions on anyone else regarding these things - only me. Just to reassure you)

I was wondering overnight - does the mini cobb loaf at Woollies have cheese in it? You've got me wanting to try it now, with tomato soup in it.

I have some good news - I was able to rake the lawn without too much trouble for my knee. Am relieved that I don't have to ask the neighbours to do it, as I know they really don't want to. It's good exercise for me, too.

After your jet fuel (coffee) and all your morning tablets (yay) you will be set to achieve buttonholes and floors 🙂

@NatureLover I'm glad you laughed! Laughing is good.

I don't use makeup but my toiletries are vegan, I use natural cleaning products because fibromyalgia has me chemically sensitive.

The Woolworths Cobb does not contain cheese unfortunately. You'd need to add cheese. 😂

Yay for you raking without your knee complaining too much!

My doctor called as he promised to check on me... he's going to get the script sent through to local chemist so I can continue on the higher dose. I only cried a little bit on the phone.

@Escaped_Goat I didn't know fibromyalgia resulted in chemical sensitivity... Oh my gosh. A friend of mine has Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and it's totally turned her life upside down. She went from a high achiever jet-setting around the world to living in a tent in the bush. I am hoping you are not as bad as that...well, obviously not as you have a nice bright little kitchen/house. Thank goodness, but still, it must not be at all easy. 😞

This is good... I'm not sure if your crying was good or not, but it's nice he's sending the script and is checking in on you.

I am totally skilled at adding cheese to anything, so the cobb loaf won't be a problem. 🙂

Now for another walk...the sunlight always makes me think of cleanliness. And yes, laughing is healthy...thank you for the laugh.

@NatureLover Just had lunch so going to exercise shortly and then chill out for the rest of the day.

The crying was meh. Something that happens.

I hope your exercising went well, @Escaped_Goat . I guess it will take time to build your strength back up.

So the crying wasn't good crying...that's a shame. It's actually hard for me to cry, on my meds.

I went on 3 walks today - it was great. Tomorrow will be back to rain and possible hail though.

I hope your evening goes well. The evenings in wintery months stretch on for ever, don't they?!
