Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello dear @Dimity , thank you for your beautiful message which I read in my email notifications ❤️ It was (and is) very much appreciated ❤️

I'm sitting here waiting for the real estate agent to come and do the 6-monthly rental inspection. It's a new agent so I don't know what to expect. It's the first time I've really had to sit down for a while. It's been very busy, as you would probably know, with a death in the family. I can't really do anything till the real estate agent comes as it would muck up the house. I guess the inspection has been a good thing so that I couldn't spend too much time during the days wallowing in bed. My family member had been sick for a while but the end was unexpectedly sudden. 😭

I also want to reply to your nice post from 9th August. Thanks for your kind words about the online shopping...I'm pleased too.

That's good of you to plant-sit for someone as your private garden sounds quite full!

I have another problematic commitment that's taking nearly half my income I need to resolve too and I doubt I can do that without therapy.

Oh gosh, this sounds extremely difficult...am very sorry to hear.

Have you had any more thoughts about choosing between a weekly helper/socialising and therapy? I know it's awful to have to choose 😣

How is your decluttering going? And when will your helper leave?

I haven't been to work but will go tomorrow hopefully.

Sending hugs 💚

Hi @NatureLover i am so sorry about your loss … not sure how I missed that post. Although it sounds like you have kept yourself busy with the pending inspection, it is difficult when the world does not slow when these things happen in our lives. I do hope that you have been taking extra care of yourself amongst everything else that has been happening. It’s ok to slow down. To feel. To grieve.
caring for you 💕

Lovely to hear from you @NatureLover I hope the inspection went well.

We're always surprised and saddened by loss even when we know it's imminent. And if we're caught up in the funeral and legal and administrative aftermaths it's draining. I hope you have family and other supports around you at this time.

My helper wasn't able to come yesterday. She's told me of a recent job offer but hasn't given notice yet. I don't yet know what to do, but it's saved me from having to decide whether to let her go.

I reset yesterday by taking stuff to the opshop. Now I have to begin again. And I need to get back onto the paperwork, I've been procrastinating. Time to redo my to-do list!

Best wishes for your work tomorrow (if you're working). And I hope you can relax now after the inspection.

Thank you so much, @Dimity ❤️

Yes, I have a bit of support, thanks. And yes, the pressure's off after the inspection.

That's true. I know it's a huge decision you have to make...about whether to go for a new helper or go for the therapy, I mean. 😣

Well done for taking more stuff to the Opp Shop. You certainly are amazing at getting stuff out of your house regularly. Plus you don't seem to accumulate much.

I'm going to work today although I'm dreading the constant phones a bit...just feeling fragile I think.

Good luck with that awful business paperwork.

It's understandable you're feeling a bit fragile @NatureLover . I'm glad you've got the inspection out of the way for another 6 months.

I haven't been so disciplined with grocery shopping lately and need to be more careful, I'm a bit overstocked. I may be getting stuff to the opshop from time to time but it's not had much impact as I've brought other stuff out of storage.

It sounds as though you could do with a rest day. Hope it goes well.

That's true, @Dimity , you bring a lot of stuff out of storage.

I know having my house neat and clean every 6 months is very inspiring, so you wouldn't get that nice feeling. 🫂

I kind of had a rest day yesterday, so back into it today. Plus some grocery shopping this morning.

How did the business paperwork go for you last week?

@scruffypuffball How are you going with your decluttering?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@NatureLovernot much. i had health issues these past 2 weeks, actually longer for some symptoms. recently i had this headache where if i bend over i get a flash of pain in back of head. so i decided to rest a bit and it has gotten better. I i guess i take it easy for next week or so. see how i go. its either a neck issue from heavy lifting last week or csf leak?? hope not 😕 rest is best for now. Havent been active on the forums either as tech neck does not help.

I grocery shopped today too @NatureLover . Prices are really going up.

I've been tidying the livingroom and kitchen a little. Thanks for asking about the paperwork. I've just done my 2022-23 tax return so once it's assessed I'll try again with Centrelink. There must have been date mismatches in the data I'd uploaded.

Oh gosh yes I could do with some inspiration. Today I found books to read and sewing projects. So I'll press on.
