Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

The rest day yesterday probably did you good @NatureLover . I did a little more today. Tomorrow hopefully I'll do more again...

Hope you're OK @NatureLover . I'm resigned to not feeling right a lot of the time.

I've been sorting some old floppy disks. I hope to keep chipping away... I think I'm getting back on track. But the livingroom looks worse because of the unpacking.

@NatureLover it looks as though my helper may be finishing up soon as she's found work elsewhere. We got a bit more done today. I'll soon have enough for another trip to the opshop.

I tried to move ahead with a Centrelink application but gave up after wrestling with online forms for an hour and a half. I'll try again when I have updated paperwork but that will take a couple of weeks to get.

Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

Oh gosh, @Dimity ... Do you think you'll look for a new helper?

I'm glad you got some stuff done with her yesterday.

Ohhhh 😞 Wishing you good luck... 🤞

I seem to be stuck on the rest of the cleaning to get ready for the inspection...the final 2 walls of the shower, the bathroom and kitchen floors, etc. (No date notified as yet for inspection.) So today I'm just going to tidy and do laundry, as things have built up again on the floor. Luckily I can stay home today and it will be sunny this afternoon.

I've finally managed to stop the online shopping that I've been doing since last September, thankfully...I got a bit scared about my finances.

I hope you have a productive day today - unless it's a rest day for you, of course 🙂 Also that you can get out into your pretty-sounding garden this afternoon in the sun for some garden/nature therapy 🙂

That's a big step @NatureLover to ease back on online shopping. Well done.

I need to catch up with cleaning too, but I've been doing better with it since walking daily, as I'm a bit fitter. It's easier too if it doesn't build up. You should have had a good drying day for your laundry today, I did.

Yes I did a little gardening. Tomorrow I need to make room for pots... I'll be plantsitting for someone.

I'm not sure what to do re getting help. I do need help with transport to get back to dealing with the stuff that's offsite. I might be able to get a chap intermittently to transport boxes. The social support the helpers have given me has been nice as they're usually the only people I see all week but I feel guilty about it, and there's the ongoing cost. I have another problematic commitment that's taking nearly half my income I need to resolve too and I doubt I can do that without therapy.

I haven't done my quantum of decluttering yet today. Perhaps after dinner.

Hope your volunteering goes well tomorrow.
