Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I tidied for half an hour last night... my quantum for the day

Hi @Dimity , well done.

Yes, I have also been enjoying the sunshine 🙂

How are you going? I've been busy but have not yet done the bathroom or shower!

The shower is an effort @NatureLover . I'm better with chores than I used to be but I should be more diligent, I'm often behind.l

I've been writing myself a short to-do list each day but getting very little done. Today I only did 3 things on the list, and no decluttering. But I'll persevere.

I don't know where I put my vases. I'd like to find them, and maybe buy a bunch of flowers occasionally. It would be a good incentive to tidy the livingroom.

Hi @Dimity , I think 3 things off your list is good. 👍 I hope you won't be hard on yourself...I expect it's cos you feel behind in your chores and decluttering? I reckon it's very hard to work on the house when you're in a slump or suffering depression, so the fact you're still doing work is admirable. 💚

I managed to scrub two walls of the shower yesterday! Plus go out for my monthly meds and groceries.

Also, I'm trialling a new soap that's excellent. The last 2 before that were also good. The problem is that they are all around $7 per bar...so I'll keep trialling. This week I got 3 bars of an unscented soap that is next on the list to try, that was $2.99 per bar...much more reasonable.

I've woken up with a cold...just waiting to see if it's bad enough to not go to work. If I'm hardly sneezing then I can wear a tight mask and still go in.

I hope you can find your vases.

I didn't ask how it went with your helper on Tuesday...was it OK?

Well done @NatureLover .

I hope your hands have improved markedly with the better soaps and your gp's cream. Fingers crossed the cold doesn't last long.

I'm a bit tired and grumpy and the slump has gone on for months. I had a change of scene the last couple of days buying and posting gifts for 2 young relatives. But tomorrow I'll try to face the house and garden again.

Tuesday was unfortunately another wasted day. My helper came early, at midday, so I felt obliged to go out for lunch.

Tomorrow I'll try to plant out some things I've been holding in pots, and see what clutter I can move.

@Dimity Sorry Tuesday was a wasted day 😞

My cold was an allergy I think, as it cleared up completely at about 7.30 / 8am and I was able to go to work with no sneezing or scuffles. Ooops - typo - I mean snuffles! 😮 😃

I am really hoping that the coming spring helps your slump to improve. Is your garden showing any signs of spring yet?

My hands are a bit itchy this morning, but I haven't been putting on the moisturising cream at night. It's so slimy, I don't like putting it on (never have). The GP's cream didn't last long as it was only a tiny tube.

I hope that you enjoy your planting out today despite the windy weather. I think it's going to rain in the afternoon. (Moderators: we are both in Melbourne, that's all I know)

I have my monthly psychologist appt today which I haven't actually prepared for, other than to keep notes throughout the month. I need to write up those notes this morning to give her. I express myself better in writing, plus it's more efficient than me stumbling to slowly explain things. Quicker for her to read it all and then comment on what she wants to comment on.

Good luck today with what you need to do... 💚

A few daffodils @NatureLover , some hellebores and my new yellow polyanthus. Plus some roses and natives. Quite pleasing.

Mid-afternoon I realised I'd frittered away time again. Ticked several items on my list although not as much as I'd hoped. But I think it's good to have the list.

I hope your psychology appt went well. I don't feel I can go back to mine. I've looked up local psychologists online but most charge a large gap, especially the ones with a better profile.

Hope your weekend is fruitful and you feel more prepared for your rent inspection.

Sounds like you have lots of lovely things growing in your garden, @Dimity 🙂 Our communal garden has daffodils, but they're not out yet.

My psychologist appt went well, thanks. I'm sorry you are without a psychologist at the moment 😞 And that you don't feel you can start with another due to cost 😞 That's such a shame.

If you dispensed with your helper would you be able to afford a psychologist once a month? I guess it partly depends on which you find most helpful?

I'm not feeling very positive about a weekend of nothing but cleaning 😣 Plus the forecast for both days is "mostly cloudy", which is a bit gloomy.

Hope you feel inspired with your tasks...

I hope the day worked out better than you expected @NatureLover . I fiddled with a box of books and enjoyed my daily walk.

Yes it's a quandary re letting my helper go. My last psychologist bulk billed.

I'm very tired tonight. Trying to face the boxes was hard. But I guess I made a start.

Well done on making a start on your boxes @Dimity ! 👍

I'm wishing you a solution soon... 🤞

I ended up doing sweet nothing yesterday! Nothing except reading and eating. Which means today I need to tidy and clean. But I always work better when the deadline is closer, so that will help I think.

Wishing you a good day today 💚
