Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Agreed @NatureLover we are looking after our mental health by not being productive.
My weight has been fluctuating. Mostly going down but then it goes slightly up when I eat bread. I'm thinking about dinner already. 😂 It's a nice feeling when you need to tighten those strings! 😁

I was a little bit productive today.. I cleaned up my Facebook... left a bunch of groups.. unfollowed pages... unfriended lots of people. Still could do more but it was a start.

Well done @Escaped_Goat on cleaning up your Facebook. That's productive!

It's odd, I got that notification of your post straight away just then on my email, but other posts from yesterday didn't come through to my email till overnight.

Yes, am looking forward to my macaroni cheese again tonight...will add more tomato. What are you going to have? You know, all I need is to move next door to a good cook who likes to cook for others, and I'd be set! Hehe.

@NatureLover You'd be a perfect neighbor for me. I need a walking buddy.

I think I need to look in the fridge and see what veggies need using first and base my dinner decision around that. 😂

Haha, yes, @Escaped_Goat - I could eat all your food and then we could walk it off! Actually, I don't really walk for exercise...I more just want to get out among the grass and trees. So I don't go far.

I like your dinner decision and the fact you posted it on the Cooking thread for people to get inspired by. We've both eaten healthily today with veggies so we've done well.

I threw out my one item (getting harder) and did 2 very small things off my To Do list.

I hope your evening is OK...bearable and not too long...and that you sleep well if possible.

@NatureLover I usually walk up to the cemetery which is about 3 blocks and then circle around. That's when I take my dog... it's a little under 2km which is a good distance for her. When I go solo I do a good 5km minimum. I'm a fan of walking... and swimming. Living in a rural town though our pool is only open when the weather is over 26°.

I could go to bed now but I just ate 😂 So tired 💤

Hi @Escaped_Goat , how are you feeling today? I see you were up early...have you had your several coffees?

You obviously like the fitness from walking and swimming. How is your little dog today?

I'm not so bright this morning...must remember to take my Vit D. Nothing really appeals now that breakfast is over. Hope I feel a bit more motivated soon. How is your day looking?

Hi @NatureLover awake early but not out of bed. Grateful for remote controlled reverse cycle a/c. Didn't get out of bed until 8am... did everything in the right order. Fueling up on caffeine for the day now. I'm not an early breakfast eater.

Its awful grey out again so not sure where I am on the walk today. I'm thinking I might need to invest in wet weather gear.. this lack of routine is not doing me any favours. Either that or find some indoor activity I can do daily that I actually enjoy. It's not the same as being outdoors though.
My Poppy is doing fine... snuggled under a blanket keeping warm. Thanks for asking.

I think my meds have started to kick in.. not feeling as fragile and I have to purposefully think about my numerous issues in order to bring tears to my eyes so that's a good thing. No motivation here either.. except to keep warm. Going to need to find that motivation... I really don't want to spend another day not getting things done.
If you need a giggle this morning... there's a page on Facebook that always makes me laugh.. memes to discuss in therapy.

Thanks, will look it up now!

Glad your girl is doing well today. Is she in the blankets on your bed, or does she have blankets in the lounge room?

Thaty's awesome you think your meds have started to kick in. I thought they usually took longer, but that's great. No, I don't want to spend another day with this list not getting done either...but I'll limit it to 3 things.

Sounds like you can lie in bed to switch the heater on? I don't generally wake up properly till I've eaten something. It's funny, for some people it takes a shower, or coffee, but for me it's food - of course!

OK, am off for a walk now and am thankful it's not raining. We were all about to get washed away! I know the rain is good and that you love the rain... I don't think I could live in England or Ireland where it rains constantly. I agree that inside activities are not the same as being outdoors, at all.

Glad everything has happened in the right order this morning for you - a good start to the day. 🙂 @Escaped_Goat

@NatureLover Currently she is on the other armchair.

At night she sleeps on top of the bed covers next to me but she has her own blanket she likes over her. Not spoiled at all 😂

Yeah.. they can take a couple of weeks for increases in meds to take effect and it's only been a week but I definitely feel the start so that's good. I'm sensitive to medications which can be a good thing or a really bad thing.

Enjoy your walk. I'm glad you are able to get out.. hopefully that will help your motivation today. I'm hoping mine appears out of thin air 😂

OMG, Poppy is so cute! What sort is she, is it Maltese Terrier?

I just got back from a not-all-that-long walk but it's amazing how much better I feel already. I even got 2 minutes of sunshine, yay! Am hoping for maybe a couple more walks today if I get lucky with dodging the rain.

I understand about being sensitive to meds - how it can be good and also bad. I'm not overly sensitive to them but I've heard of it.

Taking Poppy for a walk would be great motivation, woiuldn't it? I don't know about motivation for inside though...good luck. I'm going to bake bread and do laundry now, that will get me started hopefully.
