Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I'm a clothes dryer fan here. But yes when I had a line I was the same as you. I didn't like hanging things by corners because then you don't get nice square folds.

I'm not bummed about not getting the floors done.. the dog has dragged enough mud in to make it a pointless task anyway. 😂

Another day down. No roses. Not much of anything at the moment. Waiting for me to be fit for gardening again.

@Escaped_Goat good morning my friend, how are you doing this morning?

I fell asleep last night at about 7.30 on my bed, so avoided some of the bleak evening feelings. And then I slept in this morning too. Am always more positive in the mornings - it's all downhill from there, hehe. Have had my homemade toast which is quite crumbly inside, actually...is yours too?

I agree about not hanging things by their corners lol. And yes I have a clothes dryer, but am nervous about putting clothes in it lest they shrink. I use it for sheets, towels and my many face washers (wiping cloths).

That's good you don't mind not getting the floors done. Am interested to know whether you will do them next Friday or before then on a day other than a Friday, making it out of order...

@NatureLover I'm not too bad today. I went to bed early too and slept in a bit then stayed in bed until the heater warmed the room enough so I could get up and shower. Had to get going because my son was taking me to the shops with them because he didn't want me driving to the next town as I've been a bit dizzy lately. Actually managed to get out and to their house across the yard by the time they said they were wanting to leave. Go me!
I haven't had breakfast yet though and only one coffee so I need to play caffeine catchup!
I will probably run the mop over the floor today because it's quite horrible near the door with muddy paw prints. But I won't be too fussy with it because I'm sure it's going to be muddy again before the end of the day. Not much I can do about it in this weather really. I just have to suck it up.

Evenings are the worst for me... I need to find something to occupy myself in the evenings. I'm just lacking energy lately. Mornings vary... depending on if I've been dreaming and about what. Today I woke feeling neutral which is a good place to start from.. positive would be better but neutral is good.

Home made bread does tend to be a bit more crumbly when toasted... I think that's what I'll have for brunch today maybe with some egg.

Am happy to hear that today is not too bad, @Escaped_Goat 🙂 I agree, neutral is OK. And well done for controlling those numbers!

But the dizziness is not good...does your doc know why?

So you feel like that about evenings too 😞 I generally read a book, but have a very boring book on at the moment so am not getting far with it. But I feel I should finish it as library books are a scarce resource at the moment!

Good luck with the mopping. Am about to have some more crumbly bread (thanks for reassurance) for lunch.

@NatureLover I suspect the dizziness is related to the increase in meds. Brain adjustment.

What are your plans for the day?

@Escaped_Goat are you thinking that the dizziness will settle down as you adjust?

I still have my list of lots of little chores from yesterday. Probably my list is too long and I should cut it down a bit as it's a bit daunting. However I've just gone for a lie down. I did manage to get out for a quick walk this morning thankfully. Am hoping to grab another one later if it stops raining. It's crazy that I actually don't have any waterproof coat with a hood.

Do you have any plans for this afternoon?

P.S. I was very sorry to read about your fibromyalgia on the Pain thread. 😞

@NatureLover I hope the dizziness settles. It just started yesterday so one packet in with the top up amount. It's kind of annoying.

I'm thinking you should break your list down into groups of three. Three is a doable number. You can do as many threes as you feel like without feeling overwhelmed.

I was complaining to my son about not having gotten my walks in because of the rain and he said you've got a jacket haven't you.. I said I need full on fisherman's gear not just a light nylon jacket. 🤣

I have a bunch of small chores and I would like to do some sewing and I also want to curl up in my recliner under a blanket and eat cookies. 😂 Might do all three yet!

@Escaped_Goat that's very wise advice, thanks, I'll cut my list of chores down to three things. Possibly the three easiest things on the list I reckon.

Yeah, the dizziness would be annoying. Therefore relaxing under a blanket (with cookies) seems sensible 😄

You're right about needing fisherman's gear, either that or a full on diving wetsuit!

The days seem so long, don't they?

@NatureLover You're not wrong about the days seeming long. I wish I could sleep more so the days were shorter.

I'm still sitting so today isn't very successful so far. I'd probably get a gold medal for sitting. 😂

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Well, I'm still lying down! 😄 Just read something on Facebook about the push for being productive during isolation having bad effects on people's mental health. So therefore it's OK for us to still be sitting / lying down. 🙂

Sleeping more is the ideal solution to the long days I reckon. Especially when it's so cold.

Strangely, I've been eating lots but all my long pants are loose and I need to tighten the drawstrings...
