Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Haha @Escaped_Goat - I can't picture The Count counting (wasn't allowed to watch TV as a child) but I can imagine it. And no, I'd feel cruel picturing you counting!

I'm happy your numbers were low this morning. 🙂 That's a victory.

Autumn leaves are lovely if you don't have to rake them. We've got autumn leaves raining down, and I'm the only neighbour who rakes them...this year however my knee surgeon told me to avoid twisting motions, so I'm not sure what to do.

I'm lying down now for an hour or so...going out is surprisingly tiring. Good luck with the rest of your aims for today.

@NatureLover Enjoy your rest. I was cracking up picturing myself counting that way... 😂 I watched Sesame Street with my kids.
Growing up I was only allowed to watch "happy family" type shows on tv and then get yelled at for not being like the kids on tv.

I've had a bad knee so don't rake. The leaves will rot away if nobody rakes them. Let nature do its thing.

Oh no... I am so sorry to hear this. 😞

You reckon don't rake? I haven't tried yet, am waiting for more leaves to fall...I suspect I might have to ask my neighbours to rake, as the leaves completely cover the lawn and will ruin it if someone doesn't rake.

I'm glad you cracked yourself up about The Count. @Escaped_Goat

I managed to clean the rest of the kitchen and do the washing up and scrub the stovetop. The rest will have to wait for tomorrow as I'm going for a walk now.

@NatureLover Sounds like you had a very productive day! Well done!

It rained here... heavily. Wasn't supposed to.. not that I mind. It meant I didn't go for my walk though.

I'm wavering between eating healthy for dinner or not... 😂

Thanks for your encouragement, @Escaped_Goat 🙂

I was trying to cram as many walks in as I could before the rain comes over the next 4 days. I suspect you will also have rain for a few days? - as our weather comes from your direction. Actually from Perth, I think?

What have you decided about dinner? I'm having pasta to celebrate cleaning the stove.

Double posting to say there's this Mindfulness thing on tonight on the forums...are you interested, @Escaped_Goat ? I think I'd like to give it a go...I have no idea how it works but apparently you type in your responses. It's on in 45 minutes' time...

@NatureLover I decided on crumpets with peanut butter. 😂

Not the best choice but it's what I felt like.

I might regret it tomorrow but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Supposed to rain all week here too so no walks for me by the looks of it...

I'm impatient to be starting my other exercises so when I can't walk I have something physical to do.

@NatureLover That sounds good. How did you find that?

@Escaped_Goat I clicked on the 'Lived Experience' page and the ad for it was on there. I'd seen it before but somehow forgotten, and I just noticed the date was today. A free Mindfulness training sounds good to me.

Crumpets with peanut butter sound delicious!

No walks for either of us then for the rest of the week. So you can't start your exercises yet, for another week?

@NatureLover Ooh I found it! Sounds good!

May 8th is my actual go date so a little over a week and I'm not allowed to just jump into things. I tried to make a deal with the doctor... I said he should send me for an ultrasound to see if everything is healed instead of playing guessing games. He just gave me "the look". He always tells me I need to learn patience. I always tell him I'm too old.. I don't have time for that!
He called out after me down the hallway... "you had major abdominal surgery, behave yourself".
I have to behave really unless I want another surgery to repair any damage but it's sooooooooooo frustrating.
