Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi there @NatureLover and thanks for the well wishes.

Sorry to hear of the likely bursitis and possible frozen shoulder/s.

I have problem shoulders too, for about 10 years or more now. Mainly wear and tear and tendon issues. I have shoulder impingement syndrome in my left shoulder. That resulted in a rotator cuff tendon tear about 6 years ago. It was incredibly painful and meant I could not use my left arm at all. Of course I never got it looked at or checked. Just hoped it would get better on its own. Which of course, it didnt. 😔

I finally went and saw my GP about 2 months after I injured it. After lots of impossible tests, he said my tendon tear, and subsequent immobility, had led to a frozen shoulder. Which is very painful in itself.

He gave me a big magic cortisone needle into the shoulder to free it up a bit and reduce pain. Then I had to see a physio for intense physio for a couple of months. It finally came good.

But my shoulders remain an ongoing issue due to impingement of tendons. It means they tend to fray and tear.

What sort of a weekend are you having @NatureLover ?

I have a big day tomorrow, with my radiation planning session. Long drive, then an hour and a half long apt with specialist. It includes a CT scan with IV contrast and some tattooing to permanently mark their aim spots. Not exactly looking fwd to any of that.

What have you decided to do re your volunteer job? You mentioned you had put in some measures to help. Just hope its successful. 😄

Oh gosh, that all sounds awful! I'm glad your frozen shoulder came good in a matter of months rather then years...but it sounds pretty bad. 😞

I've been very troubled by my work situation...it really looks like my role is at risk there due to political reasons in the office. 😞 I hope to keep my volunteer role for as long as I can. The weekend...I didn't achieve much on the house yesterday, so I hope I have energy to tackle the house today. The kitchen is unfunctional 😞

Take care, @Emelia8 ...

Good morning @NatureLover

I’ve just read your news and really hope you can keep your volunteer job for longer.

Good luck with the housework today. I’m still laying under the fan in my bedroom, just a bit slow here at present.

sending you all my best loving thoughts

Thanks, @Eve7 , you're such a sweetie. That volunteer job has helped keep me sane and feeling useful 2 days a week for the last 12 years...I really hope I can cope with how political it's become, and the bullying.

I'm getting through some housework and some organising for next week. It sounds hot there! Resting sounds good for your wrist...

Sending you 💛 and thoughts back...

@outlander been thinking of you...hoping you're coping. Not sure how Christmas is for you generally...I hope it's not too much of an added stress. I guess it is, financially at least...and probably physically. 😞 Sending you thoughts, wishes and 💙
